We have started using a mirrored download server at the Albert Einstein Institute (AEI) in Golm bei Potsdam, near Berlin, Germany. Hosts whose timezone offset from UTC is closer to UWM (UTC-7 hours) will continue to get data and executables from UWM. Those hosts whose offset from UTC is closer to the AEI (UTC+1 hour) will get data and executables from AEI. This should give faster and more reliable downloads for everyone. Note that if a download fails from the first server, the alternate will also be tried. Please report any problems or strange behavior to the message boards.
how did we know, to what Server we connecting, ore is there no Difference, but when it is nice to see to what Server i connect, if this is possible.

correct!
due we have (so far) only one scheduler URL, the first contact will be to the
University of Wisconsin.
Only after this initial connect, it's desciced, from where the DL will start.
I guess, in theory, when the Wisconsin part is not running (or this scheduler is not reponding) we can't use the "mirrored download server at the Albert Einstein Institute"

It is sort of funny when you think on it. One of the reasons for selecting MySQL was that it was "free". You would have thought that the design team would have picked something like the BBS system that is open sourced.
For my site, that was a key consideration on what to choose for implementation. I got a host that gives me several MySQL databases, I am using phpMyFAQ, phpDig (new this week, though I still have to index/try to index the FAQ) for search, and if and when there seems to be a need or a desire, a BBS ...

The need for the Q/A-functionality among oher things is why a new BBS was implemented for BOINC, instead of using PHPBB or similar.
A quick look on CPDN's non-BOINC-forums shows developing their own BOINC-forum instead of relying on some other forum-software probably wasn't such a bad idea afterall...
