I_think_ that error message means that packets are being corrupted, truncated, in-transit.

Error 500 means that you managed to reach the server, but that the server doesn't have a clue what to do with your request. So it says hi and bye.
I am against the stunting with MTU, because setting MTU to a lower than normal amount has an impact on everything you do on the internet. So instead of sending/downloading one packet per bit of communication your do now, you then send three of them. Fine if you have 56k dial up, but not if you have cable or DSL.
It's why I am keeping a close eye on the Error 500 thread over at the Seti NC forums (no link, they have their weekly database backup outage), where Celtic Wolf is trying to get to the bottom of things. I'll ask him to make a sweep through this thread.
It's my suspicion that it has something to do with libcurl. That's the part that communicates with the projects. Seti is using Apache as well, Michael, but then on Solaris and with fastcgi. As far as I know, the rest of the projects are on Linux, Apache with normal cgi. If that makes any bit of difference.
Anyway, we're not sure where the problem lies. Might be a router between the person and the project server, yet it might be Gremlins as well. Or we're over-imagining things. (My favorite explanation :))

Since I have finished some work I was waiting that the work was uploaded, but it doesn't do this because of the error I've seen in this thread.
I'm using the following
LAN with Linksys WRT54G router (cables)
ADSL modem
Pentium 4 PC with Windows XP (and BOINC)
Pentium 3 PC with Windows 2003 server (and BOINC)
My network is ok. I'm running a webserver on the 2003 server whithout any problem. I'm also using Azeurus (p2p) software and again whithout any problem.
Why is BOINC not uploading the work. I've read the thread, but I do not understand what to do. Is it a bug of BOINC or do I have to do something with MTU and if so, what do I have to do there.

There are two separate problems - first is the "500" errors that were occuring for some people last week, which the MTU fix "gets around" for most. I wouldn't worry about that one right now, as I suspect the problem is going to be solved at the server end, or maybe with a new version of BOINC, shortly. Or they'll find whatever router at Cogent (or elsewhere) got messed with. If, however, you are having problems uploading _Einstein_ work, and the error is "500", you might try reducing your MTU temporarily (I'd suggest go ahead and go to 576, just don't forget to put it back to 1500 once the problem is solved...) to be able to do Einstein.
Second is the fact that SETI is just plain down. Servers overloaded, network congested, millions of results trying to upload - you can write off getting any SETI done for the next couple of days, at least. Hit "no new work" on it, then "suspend" whenever all your results are finished, and then whenever your uploads finally go through, you can turn it back on.

Netbuie and IPX/SPX are network protocols that aren't installed by standard by Windows XP.
It's even best to not have them installed at all.
So go to your Internet/Network settings, properties and check in the window where it says things like Client for Microsoft Networks and Internet Protocol, if you have another protocol sitting there. If you do, tell me about it.
