OK, found a Windows XP PC at

OK, found a Windows XP PC at work. It slightly looks different,
but I suspect this is because of different versions.

There are predefined filters already, so the only thing to do is:

1) "Capture->Options"
2) Now there is the "Capture Filter" button. Select "HTTP TCP port 80" and
press "OK".
3) press "start"
3) Now capturing starts.

Hopefully it will work this time.

Sorry for delay. And trouble.

Sorry for delay. And trouble. Options in my Ethereal not as you describe, Michael. And for some reason am unable to get screenshot. And email notification of posts to this board no longer working. And other strangeness.

Can get screen shot into email, if you give me an adress I can show what Ethereal looks like here.

Frankly, am about to conclude my machine is cursed, and just give up. Back after work.

Now I am lost. I have downloaded the Windows version from the site I mentioned.
Installed it on an English Windows XP SP2. You can't tell me
that there is no menu named "Capture->Options"?

And don't give up. Now I am determined to solve that.

MK, just as a help: It won't be there if the person didn't install WinPcap.
Brad: If WinPcap is installed as a service, check if the service is running. Else reboot the computer.

Wincap is installed. Don't

Wincap is installed. Don't see in taskmanager anything I can identify- how would it be identified?

When I click capture options the first field is "interface" which I change from a dialup option to Realtek RTL8139, which is what I have (cable).

click capture filter button- opens another dialogue where I select HTTP TCP port (80), which now appears in capture options capture filter field.

click start I get:Invalid capture filter: "HTTP TCP port (80)"!

That string isn't a valid capture filter (syntax error).
See the help for a description of the capture filter syntax.

Dont' really know how I got that file I posted, but I agree about Jords black ops death squad. Can't the mods remove that embarassment from this thread?

Did you allow the program(s)

Did you allow the program(s) to talk through the firewall? I remember it asking me 3 times if parts could go through my Sygate...

I've allowed all in both Sygate and Process Guard for anything involved with this.

Hello all, I have been

Hello all,
I have been experiencing the same problem (error 500) since installing the new BOINC client version 5.2.13 on monday 2005-12-12.

I was looking through the 'stdoutdae.txt' file in the BOINC folder and noticed that the reference for the einstein version changed from 4.79 into 479 I am not thet experienced with BOINC so I don't know if this could cause this (or any other) problem.

Extract from 'STDOUTDAE.TXT' :
To pause/resume tasks hit CTRL-C, to exit hit CTRL-BREAK

StartServiceCtrlDispatcher being called.
This may take several seconds. Please wait.

Strange. Sure you did not edit anything? The line should read "tcp port http" or "tcp port 80". If this does not work you can try "dst host 130.209.45.153"
as filter. Just edit the text field to the right of the "Capture Filter" button.

130.209.45.153 is the IP address of einstein.astro.gla.ac.uk. Seems to
be your ul/dl server. Got this from

2005-12-09 10:02:22.9025 [PID=26029] [debug ] zone=+00000 url=http://einstein.astro.gla.ac.uk

Soemone with more BOINC inside knowledge, please correct me if I am wrong.

Really HTH.

Michael
