Yes, I was just commenting or lamenting that zenpower/zenpower3 is kaput for kernel 6.0+

No I haven't done anything with kernel 6.0 yet.

I've been letting you be the pioneer in that regard with arrows in your back.

Couldn't post to the zenpower3 repo as that has been archived and set read-only so posted to the zenpower repo as it is still open.

The zenpower3 repo would have been the most appropriate as it was the only one that worked on Zen3 or newer cpus.

oh, and Zenmonitor doesnt work on kernel 6.0. so there's that too. so you wont get the nicer temp monitoring for AMD

This latest #7 comment from the Phoronix forums says that he has zenpower3 working on kernel 6.0.

Just not via dkms.

must be something with the specific kernel version or something. he said he has up to 5.19 on his ubuntu install (which fails), but he has 6.0 on Tumbleweed, which is openSUSE, not Ubuntu.

the normal install directions fail on Ubuntu with kernel 6.0 (sudo make dkms-install)

attempting to install without dkms (sudo make install) also fails "no rule to make target 'install' "

but I guess all of this must be in kernel 6.0 now and no need for zenpower3 anymore.

i just un-blacklisted k10temp and reloaded it. and all power and temp readings are back. zenpower3 is not installed anymore

no voltage readings though. no big deal really.

Thanks for the update Ian.  I

Thanks for the update Ian.  I thought that with k10temp back in play that most of the sensor readings should be supplied.

But interesting that zenmonitor3 is still working though. I though it hooked into a specific interface that zenpower provided.

you will get black screen if:

new nvidia GPU release = new nvidia driver release with NFB 520.56.06. which specifically claims to solve this issue.

Fixed a regression in 515.76 that caused blank screens and hangs when starting an X server on RTX 30 series GPUs in some configurations where the boot display is connected via HDMI.

will update in a few mins to see if it dues indeed fix this issue

-edit-

indeed it's fixed now. 520.56.06 working fine with the 30-series + HDMI setup.
