Any soundcard you already like that has Linux driver should also work.
If you can get the HDMI monitor sound to work well enough then stop :) Otherwise any well reviewed card should do.

I have read that a 2 CPU Epyc mb gets way too hot without a really strong air flow or a custom water cooled flange.
The got me to wondering about the same issue on an ASRock rack Epycd8/R32/gb/ASRock A?
If I am not confused it could run a 64c/128t epyc CPU (2nd gen).
Would the VRM stay cool enough without noisy air cooling or custom water cooling?

not all dual-EPYC boards. just the one I have and the most common one. Supermicro H11DSi. there are others that have a bit better cooling. but it totally depends on the CPU TDP and ambient temps as well. it's not as black and white as "all dual EPYC boards have a problem", there are many variables including which CPUs you have and what power limit you run them on. My dual 48-core CPUs were manageable with slower quieter fans while running at 225W TDP each, but the VRM temps became a problem when I changed them to 240W TDP. more CPU power = more power flowing though the CPU VRM = more heat produced by the VRM. THAT is what necessitated fast/loud fans and/or watercooling.

look up the motherboard's supported TDP and go on that. your low TDP chips are fine. even my 200W TDP chips are fine without specific VRM cooling other than their stock heatsink.
but 240+ TDP chips could be a problem I think.
unfortunately the Asrock boards do not seem to have CPU VRM thermal sensors or dont have the readings available in the IPMI. so they are unknown to me.
As long as the case has a normal front airflow fan blowing across the front of the board, the VRM temps are fine.
Mine are at 35° C. VRM semiconductors are normally rated to be fine up to 150° C.
I put a standard 120mm case airflow fan that runs at 1000rpm somewhere mid-chassis blowing on the front of the board on my TT cases with the Epyc mobos. The fans are inaudible over the fans from the gpus.

Just got one of them cheap from China, they're great fun! First thing I did was measure the temperature of everything. Although alarmingly it agrees with every other thermometer that my body temperature is 31C.
If this page takes an hour to load, reduce posts per page to 20 in your settings, then the tinpot 486 Einstein uses can handle it.
You can't use them to measure body temp. The IR reflectance of skin does not match what the sensor is set up for.
It claims anything that isn't shiny is ok. And they're what's used to do a quick check for covid - on the forehead. Although I was obviously using it under my tongue. Mind you a normal mercury thermometer under my tongue shows 31 too. It correctly reads my arm temperature.
