Styx N Stones use a ryzen 7

Styx N Stones use a ryzen 7 3800X, so he use at 50% the 8 cores.
Could it be, that the new CPU-work-Manager (i don´t know the right name of it in the moment) of Win 11 is the problem? In our SG-Forum, a member has the same problem with a 16C Ryzen. Maybe Win 11 didn´t handle the work right?

Please take a look at the RAM and CPU consumption, during Einstein is running.

The Ryzen Firmware-TPM is a general Problem with AMD-CPUs and Win 11. To switch off the TPM 2.0, is mostly a solution, but i don´t believe in that case. If you search a little bit, you find a lot of discussions about Win 11 and Ryzen.

The thing that made me start

The thing that made me start looking at this was about 2 weeks ago the cpu temps started getting high... then higher. Thats when it started randomly locking up. At this point I set  for 50% of CPUs running at 50% of the time. So far it hasnt locked up for 12 hours so Ill let it run. If it does it again Ill try switching off the TPM.

sounds like a problem with CPU cooling. Check the cooler and/or thermal paste application.

I have a couple of gtx 1080's

I have a couple of gtx 1080's running on the same MB as a couple of 3080 series.  (Under Linux).

The Nvidia gui panel for them reports the 1080's are running at the 97-100% range and the 3080's are running at the 80% range.

I have run upto 3 tasks on all gpus.  And the 1080's slowdown.  But still seem to be processing faster with 3 tasks than they do with 1 task.

For the time being I am running 1 task per gpu.  It is a test rig so I don't feeling like I have to push it "all out" (yet).

Well, I've been going over

Well, I've been going over the specs of the RTX 3090Ti this last few days since it's official release. I am drooling  dreaming of course, as I've run out of children to pledge to the bank for the needed overdraft. Now if only I could claim it as a legitimate tax deduction. Mind you, it would have to be within an entirely new system that could do it justice ( PCI-E 4.0 et al and probably a 1000W PSU ).

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal

Most of the reviews say that

Most of the reviews say that it is marginally faster than a 3080 Ti or a regular 3090.  Not worth the extra cost for the least amount of benefit.

Yeah, it's a trophy really.

Yeah, it's a trophy really. For bragging about. There's far more sensible choices of course.

Cheers, Mike.

Tell the tax people it's so you can see the images they send you, as a Dr, better so you can better diagnose and treat your patients. Don't tell them you will using it to play F1 racing on it. LOL

ps is it Ferrari or Red Bull this weekend?

The best part of the 3090Ti

The best part of the 3090Ti is that they finally switched to 2GB modules. And all modules are on the front side of the PCB and none on the back. The back side modules with inadequate cooling (and extra power consumption) was the worst part of the 3090. Now cooling and power consumption are less of a concern. The full-die is nice too but expected for this level of card.

bad things about the 3090Ti, the 16-pin connector requires an adapter for any PSU currently available. And the 4-pin sideband portion of the 16-pin connector is not being applied consistently across models and possibly not to spec. But I guess they did what they had to do when Nvidia launched a new connector that’s not fully supported by any PSU right now.

and it’s a little sad that Nvidia didn’t brand it a Titan, which would have obligated them to give the card some additional features that they get to hold back on by keeping it a GeForce card. Most full-die cards have been branded Titan, but this one is not. It’s the same marketing games Nvidia played when they called the 3090 “Titan class”.
