I live in North Carolina and saw one of those this past week at our bird feeder, it's tail is much longer than a regular squirrel and it's nose really does look alot like a fox but it moves just like a regular grey squirrel
New high-speed videos show squirrels performing daring, parkour-like stunts -- all in pursuit of peanuts. A new study tested the agility of fox squirrels with the goal of learning how the squirrels maneuver through the tree canopy, bounding between branches of different sizes while consistently sticking the landing.
We have a single birdfeeder right now and the squirrel baffle is on the ground every single morning and we were blaming the squirrels until I opened the blinds tonight and I saw a fricking deer with their mouth in the hole for the birds and their body bumping into the baffle and it hitting the ground. The deer didn't get much from the hole but it did make the feeder swing like crazy and the deer ate the birdseed off the ground.
Yes, you are smarter than a squirrel. After all you have air conditioning and it doesn't ;)

I thought it was the squirrels all this time until I reviewed my critter cam!
We had one come by our bird feeder too, no antlers though, and he would try to stick their tongue in the hole of the bird feeder which would then spill alot of birdseed on the ground that they would eat, it only ran away when it say me moving.

I know for sure I'm not a squirrel. Intelligence related questions and comparisons can be forwarded to /dev/null.
But to try and to make me to look a bit like a squirrel I give you this:
Oaths, Oats, ...
You/and I, We all reap what has been sown.
Some rap of what has been seen.
Some warp the timespace /
none of us has seen.
We'll compute what has been given,
Some rap still (frozen) keen.
Celestial events massive dance /
most of us can dream.
I'm lucky I'm not a poet.
But the one /
who can sell this /
as art will make fortune.
