That really is an inspired

That really is an inspired piece of construction genius, Dr Who Fan :)

In many ways it's just as well I don't try to battle the presence of the leaping furry ones in my garden because it's a bit too small to stop them just flinging themselves from a boundary and arriving at their destination without any need to clamber up anything more than their chosen launch site.

Oh, and that dray I mentioned in an earlier post that I didn't think would last through the winter. It didn't. It seemed to, well ... dissolve is the best word to describe its demise, in early January. I'm not sure where the family relocated to, but they still arrive as a posse.

How is your little finger behaving, Robl? I hope there's been some improvement. And that your shoulder is doing what shoulders are supposed to do, and not hurt!

Have a lovely weekend everyone :)

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

Anniet, thanks for asking

Anniet, thanks for asking about the shoulder.  I screwed it up the 1st of Sept and had the corrective surgery on 12/6.  I have since been in therapy.  The shoulder is improving but it will as noted take more therapy.  Falling down at my age is not recommended.  My yard/gardent is a mess.  I hve not been able to work in it now for 6 1/2 months.  Take care all.

When it happened to what passes as a garden  in my part of London, nature doing all her whimsically-rampant-rewilding-thing, it happened much faster than I could undo, or even keep up with, so, beaten, I decided to like it instead :)

It worked enormously well :) my fondness of what other people *tip nose up* rudely called my weeds I mean. They're only indigenous plants and they're only being supremely-useful... whilst-also-being-largely-untameable-too, and the insect and bird life and (even some bats) seemed to much prefer it.

And it's  that I can credit that to. Yes :) They really are the only things that flourish in it too, and with no effort involved because of the enormous quantity of sunshine the garden doesn't get, and the 3 foot deep layer of builders' rubble and broken window panes they hid under about 7 inches of clay when the garden was laid out.

I don't know if that's of any consolation to you though, robl at all...? or indeed to any of your neighbours...? but I like to think it might be ;)

nearly 3 hours later edit: I've just remembered what I meant to say before I realised I was going to bang-on about my garden instead. A few days ago, there was a story in one of the free local morning papers about an albino squirrel being spotted in Edinburgh city centre. There was a video clip of it on the equivalent website, which I could link to, but the site is horribly heavy with really annoying adverts, so I'll have a look and see if I can find it elsewhere and post that link instead :)

Former NASA Engineer Builds a Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course to Stop Nut-Stealing Backyard Squirrels

Now, if anyone can stop a squirrel from breaching a bird feeder you’d assume a former NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory engineer could, but as Mark Rober discovered, squirrels are the unstoppable ninjas of the animal kingdom.

By removing their food supply

By removing their food supply I defeated them.  They moved on to "somewhere else".  Squirrels are persistent, and nothing drives this persist ency  like hunger.  Not to mention that bird feeders and the like are hobbies.  They are something to defeat.

Another thing that drives them away is what the home builders in my area do...clear cut the land leaving no trees for nesting. Yes they get fined for doing it but here in North Carolina the fines are escalating over time so until they lose money it's cheaper to pay the fine. North Carolina is VERY business friendly for most things, ie the fines only count in the County you are in, so if you build in multiple Counties the fines will be different for each violation as long as you are in a different County. What most builders do is work the system by working in a couple of Counties at a time then when the fines get too big they move to 2 other Counties and the fines start at the bottom again. My builder got a 1 Million dollar fine for clear cutting 120 acres of land, he will build 4 to 5 homes on each acre and the home prices to the buyers will start in the low $300k range, giving him roughly a $50 to $100k profit per home. He laughed when he wrote the check to the County Council! Now he does have expenses coming out of that 'profit' but he is still not losing any money at a $1 Million dollar fine.  The County reimburses him for putting in the water and sewer lines for each new home so the County doesn't have to keep people on staff to do it so I'm guessing the Builder will have a 'slight price increase' due to whatever the contract allows for to get the Million back.

Also the Court system here is VERY business friendly as well if you are a renter and miss your rent, not now during the covid-19 problem, but normally you get 2 notices taped to your door and then your stuff is  on the curb!! They don't even have to knock on the door, just tape the paperwork and that's it. The notices do have to be 30 days apart though. The same thing for HOA dues, if they take you to Court your stuff WILL be on the curb in 90 days!!

Speaking of the Court system here if the business you are taking  to court petitions the Court ANY Lawyer that has EVER had ANY dealings with the business can be excluded from being your attorney!!! That makes it REALLY hard to find an attorney as the bad businesses make 'relationship' contracts with all the attorneys they can.

I don't know if I am smarter

I don't know if I am smarter than a squirrel.

I apparently wasn't paying attention and what was an otherwise completely reliable cruncher wasn't running this morning.

I finally figured out that the power cord was loose in the socket on the back of the PSU.

I have added a "support" wire to keep the cat from jiggling it loose.  It is my 2nd "fully wired" computer (same issue).
