I'm unsure of where to post these questions, so I'll start here.
- How can I change my name for all of my computers, or 'hosts', without losing any credits which have been applied already?
- How can I change the name of one of my computers, or 'host' (GWG-PC1), without losing any credits which have been applied already?
- I have a computer, or 'host' (named GWG-PC1), that is not recognized by BoincStats, saying that "Host ID doesn't exist in BOINC combined or doesn't have any credit." It does have credit for both Einstein and Universe. How can I get get BoincStats to recognize this computer?
Thanks in advance.

have you checked your stats here at Einstein, or whatever the Project is it is crunching for, to ensure it's using the correct account and Team. Have you contacted Boinc Stats to see if they can figure out why it isn't showing up like the rest of your pc's?

BoincStats has gone through a major change recently and I don't know how to contact "them".
I've sent Willey (Willy?) an email before but never heard back from him.
This is on the bottom of https://www.boincstats.com/bam/account/:
The last bullet indicates that I should be able to make changes, but again, I don't know how.

Any project or stats site
)
Any project or stats site only requires your CPID to identify you or your hosts. As long as your CPID does not change your credits will be always assigned to you and your hosts.
The CPID is created by a combination of your email address, the equipment you are running and your name, but primarily your email address.
You can change your hostname at any time and it will not affect your credits as long as the hostID stays the same.
And also your common language name is only visible to you. It is not visible to any project. Your hosts at any project are identified by their hostID.
What host is not recognized at BoincStats? What host at BS IS recognized? What is the hostID of the old host and what is the hostID of the newly renamed host?
All you have to do is change the hostID back to what it was in the client_state.xml file.
Another method is to use BOINC's merge function at the project to merge the old hostID into the new hostID and you will reclaim all the credits of the old host. But you will lose the history and creation date of the old host.
I like to show that I have had a host continuously at a project for 20 years so preserving the original hostID is of paramount importance to me. I always just edit the client state file.
I'm assuming you want to get
)
I'm assuming you want to get rid of the new Intel 990 host created on 6-14?
https://www.boincstats.com/stats/-1/host/detail/352112837
Einstein uses ancient server software that does not have the merge function. So you will have to edit the client_state.xml file to get back the original hostID. You should do that as soon as possible as all the credits you've accrued on the new hostID will be lost. That is unavoidable.
You need to edit your client_state.xml when BOINC is shut down and use the Find in the text editor and search for hostid. If you run multiple projects on the host you will have a hostid for each project. Continue searching through the file till you get to the Einstein section and find the hostID for Einstein on that computer.
Change the hostid from whatever it is to 12888253 which is your Einstein hostid that shows for the project.
[Edit] I see that this is the new hostid and not your old hostid. So this is pointless.
Save the file. Then copy the client_state.xml to client_state_prev.xml.
I also am assuming you ARE NOT using a BAM account. Just the plain Manager to login to your Einstein account.
Einstein also complicates matters in not showing the old computers on your account because of the software.
So the old hostid of the computer created in 12-09-2020 is not shown. Unless you have an old copy of your client_state before you created the new hostid, I don't know where you can look that up.

Thank you for confirming that I can change my hostname at any time and it will not affect my credits as long as the hostID stays the same.
The host that is not recognized by BoincStats is GWG-PC1. This is a new name I gave to the Linux Mint 20 that I installed onto my 3950X as a dual-boot system. I thought that I would try it out and so far it appears to be working okay. I had gone back and forth about 6 times during the night, by restarting and also shutting down and then relaunching either Windows 10 or Linux Mint. It has always worked so far so I think I'll keep it. I've got BOINC loaded on both versions of the 3950X and I'm going to keep it this way for a while and see how it goes.
The hosts that are recognized by BoincStats is GWG-PC, I have two named the same, both my Intel and AMD computers. I also have another computer named GWG-PC and one named mint that are no longer active but show up in Einstein@Home under the account page.
The old host, GWG-PC, is still active and I want to keep it that way. The new host is GWG-PC1, for Linux Mint 20, and I also want to keep it. They both are physically loaded on the same computer with the 3950X in a dual-boot mode.
I have used BOINC's merge function before, and while it does merge as you say, I don't want to even try to merge with any other machine.
Once again:
How do I change MY name? I want to change it because I see too many "George" listed as hosts from America alone, let alone other country's like Australia and Ireland.
...[EDIT]...
To be clear, I do not want to change anything with my 3950X machine. I only want it to be recognized by BoincStats as a new Linux Mint 20 machine. As time goes on, I will toggle back and forth between the two versions of the same 3950X machine. Maybe I'll switch back and forth every week, or every month.
I only have two machines, and that is all that I have ever had. At least for now. I may get another computer next year when much of the prices settle down to a 'reasonable' level, which they certainly are not now.

George, we have absolutely
)
George, we have absolutely no idea which host you are referencing with your internal naming schemes.
None of those are visible to anyone else, nor any project. They are only usable and visible to you.
You have to use the project HostID for every computer that you want to reference to anyone else that is seen on your Show Computers page.
BoincStats can take a few days to recognize changes in a host. For example when I changed cpus on Monday, it wasn't till Wednesday till BS reflected the change. Has to do with how often they gather and export stats from projects.
You can change your project name in Account >> Preferences >>Community >> *Name
When you have a host in dual-boot mode, it will generate two different hostID's with two different creation dates and individual stats accumulated. It sounds like you accept that condition.
At Einstein on your computers list, I see both dual-boot hosts on the same 3950X hardware. But I only see the one Linux Intel 990 host.
But you are showing two different hostid's for that hardware at BoincStats. Both are Linux hosts with different creation dates.
That is the problem I thought you were trying to resolve.

I'm sorry Keith, I thought you could see my computers. I should have known that, but now I'll try to give you more clearly defined information.
In my 3950X computer I have one system running Windows 10, HostID #12851564, called GWG-PC.
Also, in my 3950X computer, I have another system running Linux Mint, HostID #12893636, called GWG-PC1.
Both of these computer's are loaded as dual-boot. I can only run one at a time, not both.
My other computer is the i7 CPU X 990 which I have running Linux Mint also, it is HostID #12888253, also called GWG-PC. This one was a Linux Mint before, but I switched SSD's for reasons I'll explain in a PM if you need to know.
I have just now set my name to GWGeorge007 at Account >> Preferences >>Community >> *Name, as you said. I thank you for that. I had forgotten all about that web page. Now if I understand you correctly, all of my other information within Einstein will still remain intact with no changes, just my name. And I will need to wait several days for BoincStats to relearn my new name. Correct?

I may have already solved my problems(?) with Keith's help. He's always been a good influence on me!
I think I make something out of nothing... and I end up going overboard trying to solve it myself not realizing I had all the tools and information at hand without having to get others involved.

Yes, you can change your name willy-nilly at any project and it has no bearing on your hosts or credits. All it does is change how you are indentified in the forums.
But I think you are confused about your name at Boincstats. It does not get your name from any project.
Your name at Boincstats is only controlled by your account there. If you want to change your name, login to your account at Boincstats and change it to your new preferred handle.
