We're about to get our third thunderstorm in as many days. The last time we had weather like this, 14 - 16 years ago, we also got hit with tropical storms and hurricanes. Hmmmm. At least I don't have to water the patio plants twice a day. Although, having two cats stuck inside because of the weather is like having young kids stuck inside - they get rambunctious!
Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.

I use Ukula's, unglazed jugs in my planters, and fill them every other day. and along with a good watering of the dirt in them they last 2 days on my patio. They look similar to this:
The make small ones and taller ones, I have my tomatoes in plastic half whiskey barrels and use the taller ones laid down at an angle. The idea is that since they are unglazed the water will flow out of them as the dirt dries out.

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't aware of those. I'll check out the local Ace Hardware, but will probably have to order on-line. I might even get one for myself to "improve health and virility" as the marketing brochure says!

I'm not so sure about "health and virility" but drinking enough liquids everyday does help. For most people that's between 1/2 and a whole gallon per day, and unfortunately coffee does not count as it's a diuretic.
