Well.

Nearly a month since I last posted hereabouts. So much to respond to. So much of it read while barely awake.

I think the biggest chuckle goes back to the previous TLPTP, Dr. Mike's explanation of cold vs. flu.

Gas stations in New Jersey: yes, it's a jobs thing.

The only other thing that comes to immediate mind is genealogy: I am 12th generation of the largest group of Streeters in America. There are a couple other groups, and they all seem to tie together farther back in England. On my mother's side, I had great-grandparents that I just barely remember. If I'd had a kid at 20 and then that one had a kid at 20, my grandmother would have been a great great, which might even have motivated her to live long enough to be a 3-great.

Anyway, I should have been trimming my beard when I started typing this, and should be getting in the shower about now.

A company called Chums in the UK is adverising an 11" manual typewriter as an exclusive offer with the following blurb.

  1. No computer required!
  2. Needs no power.
  3. Portable
  4. A soothing click-clack sound

£199.99 (2 x Ribbons £14.99, 100 sheets carbon paper £14.99)

You couldn't make it up in the 21C if you tried!!! What a bunch of idiots :-)))

Why do doctors have to practice?

My wifes dad passed away almost 15 years ago now and after her mom passed 2 years ago she cleaned out the house and found her dads old manual typewriter, we STILL have it in a case but will probably end up throwing it out at some point. I'm hoping to put it in the attic, for safe keeping, and then convince her to trash it, it's not new and half the keys have no letters on them.

At 7:30AM EST today it works for me in FireFox.

I found the problem; for me it's STILL locked at "http://einstein.phys.uwm.educommunity/forum/19" where it SHOULD be using the "einsteinathome.org" in the URL and NOT "einstein.phys.uwm" location...

I'm NOT sure how to rectify this...  Would clearing DNS Cache help this???  As of now, I CAN get to ANYWHERE else in the Community and ALL show "einsteinathome.org" in the URL; just NOT Technical News...  Frown

[EDIT:]

Another possible monkey wrench is that I'm currently using OpenDNS Settings in my personal router behind the U-Verse Gateway.  It may be that OpenDNS has NOT yet caught up with the "einsteinathome.org" changes, yet, either...

[EDIT 2:]

Per Oliver's suggestion; took drastic steps on Local Network.

Removed OpenDNS from Router, got Cache Flushed from MAC, got History Cleared in FF.  NOW, I can get to Technical News.  Laughing

Trials and tribulations

Trials and tribulations aside, you all are forgetting something.

I have had my share of pain the last few days learning some new linux stuff, but it all pales in comparison to the fact that I am winning.

You may all bow to me now.
