Since going back to 4.43 and

Since going back to 4.43 and installing the update E@H .02...been a few days now. I have yet to receive any new WUs from E@H. Is there a problem with the server or has my account been marked because of all the bad WUs I sent back because the beta version being incompatible with Boinc 4.44?
NO WORK = NO HELP!

Thanks,
MacStef

No, I doon't see any sign of your computer being marked invalid. However I see that there are some results have been sent to you with deadline 9 July ("no reply") and two have been sent recently being "in progress". What exactly do the messages say?

the "NO REPLY" is because of

Message 15388 in response to message 15387

the "NO REPLY" is because of the issues I have been having with Boinc 4.44 and Einstein .02. Which is what I was trying to correct with the uninstall of everything and start over method. But that doesn't seem to have worked either. If you look at the latest batch of WUs sent back. I still have a "client error, computing", and for some reason, a "success, done", that I am claiming 33.41 credits, but received 0.00 credits. I am just thinking that this Einstein .02 isn't all it's cracked up to be. I have had nothing but problems since trying to run it. As a matter of fact, since reinstalling Boinc 4.43 and Einstein .02 it has somehow started corrupting my Seti WUs as well as SZTAKI WUs. I am going to try again after all my cache is empty and hope it works this time. If not I will just run the "SNAIL PACE EINSTEIN" and wait till you can figure out what is wrong with the AltiVec version.

I think it has something to do with "Boinc's New Policy" of finishing the WUs due first and the resource share preferences. I noticed that the paused and running status was jumping all over the place the other evening while I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on with Boinc. Just my humble opinion of course. I do not claim to know anything about writing software but I do have a knack for finding bugs. And as everyone else puts it. Einstein .02 just doesn't play nice with other Boinc projects. ....RESOURCE SHARE.... that's my bet on the bug,

I've just posted a

I've just posted a [url=http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/app_test.php]new test version (0.05) of the Einstein@Home app for Mac OS X. This should fix the suspend/resume problem.

Please read the installation instructions carefully.

Please post success/failure reports to this thread.

Cheers,

Installing the new .05 Beta

Installing the new .05 Beta per the instructions resulted in success. The currently running WU resumed calculating with the .02 Beta, and when it finished and uploaded, a new WU was downloaded and began running under the .05 Beta. I'm running these with BOINC 4.44 as CLI in Terminal. I have Einstein currently running with a 20:1 ratio of time with SETI, so I haven't been able to see how well the pausing plays yet. I'll be able to install the .05 Beta on my iBook this weekend and then I'll reset the computing ratio to 1:1 for SETI and Einstein to test the pausing.

The question on my mind, "C"

Message 15393 in response to message 15390

The question on my mind, "C" is if the WUs will complete properly or if they will have "Client Errors" like most of them did when running Boinc 4.44, Einstein .02 and Seti@home 4.3 together. Please post your results so the rest of us will know which version of Boinc to run?

Thanks!

iMac G5 OS

iMac G5 OS 10.3.9

Installed BOINC 4.43 and downloaded the Einstein .05 Beta. Two things:

1- When launching BOINC Manager I get a window that says:
"BOINC Manager-Connection Error"
"The password you have provided is incorrect, please try again".
I have entered my URL and Account Key as originally supplied by e-mail back in February, in the "Attach to New Project" window of BOINC Manager. No, I have not created another account.
What am I doing wrong no. 1?

2- In my Terminal window, I notice no change from before installing the BOINC 4.43. It still says "Starting BOINC client version 4.19 for powerpc-apple-darwin". I noticed that the new 4.43 had installed a BOINCData folder in the Library/Application Support folder. In february the original software had installed itself in the Home/Library/Application Support folder. As suggested I moved the new "app_info.xml" and "einstein_0.05_powerpc-apple-darwin" documents from the Library/Application Support folder to the Home/Library/Application Support folder and restarted, but no change was shown in the Terminal window.
What am I doing wrong no. 2?

So far I have accumulated 12,248 credits.

1. You are doing nothing

1. You are doing nothing wrong.

2. The problem is that some things have changed between the 4.19 and the 4.43 client. The BOINC Manager found the 4.19 client running and tried to connect to it, but failed because of changes in the protocol that have been made.

3. The solution:
- Stop any clients and Managers
- If you give something on the Result that has already been started, move all the files and folders from the BOINC folder in your home directory into "/Library/Application Support/BOINC Data", overwriting what may already be there. Delete only the single file named "boinc" (the old client).
- Remove the BOINC folder (and all its contents if you skipped the previous step) from your home directory.
- Start the BOINC Manager again

4. The only thing that was wrong in some sense was that you apparently had the old client running when installing the new one. However I suspect that it's rather BOINCs fault for not telling you. I wrote to the BOINC developers about that, maybe the next installer will handle this case better.

Thanks Bernd for a response

Thanks Bernd for a response most prompt.

It seems to be working ok, though I do not see if indeed I am working with 4.43. I found that I do not need the Terminal anymore, in the sense that it does not show that I am using 4.43. So I removed the Terminal from the Startup Items and added the BOINC Manager, (which was supposed to be added to the Startup items, so the new "Read Me" said). Is this normal?

I read about people needing so many hours per "Work Unit". I recall the "Work Unit" from my previous involvement with SETI. Where do I find the info about "Work Unit" involving Einstein?
