Last night I watched one of

Last night I watched one of the science channels talking about the different ways to end the world as we know it.

Solar storm knocking out the power over the entire world and about how the last time we had a real strong one was back when we only had (known as the Carrington Event) the *telegraph* and still didn't have any  Tesla A/C  yet so it just knocked down the telegraphs.

If that happened again it world start raining satellites since we have hundreds or them out there.

No power so we would be back to the early 19th century but 99% of the humans could not last longer than a few months at best.

Even if you lived on a farm with food to eat since those city people would soon rob and steal all of it.

So the power grids better update to a way to back up that grid and protect it from something that will happen.

I think I would just be bored to death with no computers and no satellite dishes and tv that would do more than just sit there ........since even if you have solar panels all you would have is that power light on and no picture on that tv and no internet on that pc.........of course they probably would all get toasted by the power surges so you could maybe have lights for a while.........no refrigerators........no stores and no food and your car will just sit there.

I guess the best place to live would be far away from those millions who live off of daily electricity and have your own farm land where you could survive winters and summers with no electricity.

Maybe those company owned power grids will be getting this taken care of since even the richest humans would have very little advantage.

Oh and of course with no electricity to cool those nuclear power plants around the world would we would have them all exploding around the planet with all that goes with that.

Now who knows when that could happen and I am not worried about it......since as I mentioned I would just be bored to death.......and probably freeze unless I could get some "global warming" to keep me from freezing in my unheated house (guess I could rig up some type of wood burning device)

Ok I better get off the couch and go see what my other computers are doing...........

Oh and one thing is a sure thing here..........the thread will soon be handed over to a new monarch .........no idea who that will be........just pure luck Cool

I learned something today :)

I learned something today :) I needed help, but I got there in the end. Apparently, it's Saturday and has been all day! Watching Magic's balls has made me late telling you all though. I hope you're now feeling on top of the weather, Magic?

*flick eyes round thread* That goes for you lot too, of course :)

I was going to ask a question about something the other day but everything went black as I was looking to see if anyone else had asked it but now I've forgotten what it was so I can't. Something was spilled into the electrics, which took my mind off line but all is well now, apart from the bits that aren't :)

We only had generator power for most of my growing up time. I always preferred it when it was off, because of the racket it made. It did make discovering snakes wrapped around the toilet pedestal at night more of an auditory experience than a visual one, until a tall person turned up with an oil lamp so everyone could bellow/scream "cobra/puff adder" at it and create a lot of commotion. I think I would cope okay in a world without power for quite awhile if duvets became an acceptable form of attire, which I think they should be anyway, at least until I died from twig poisoning or something. That's assuming I wasn't flattened first by a satellite.

I've just remembered!!! :) I've got two tasks which I'm so glad didn't get curdled* when the computer got cut off from its life support, with the suffix "_2" which I thought meant they were resends, but they don't seem to be. I thought it was interesting * :)

 * this is an assumption really ... because they're still in progress

 * this too is an assumption ... because it might not be

Well ANNIET I guess right now

Well ANNIET I guess right now I am on the same level as the weather......not above or below.........but I did get outside today for a few minutes to check things and feed the birds.

Good to see you are back on even if you had to watch balls and snakes Wink

My good old dsl went off about a half hour ago and after several restarts and resets I ended up making that phone call to India.........as always he wanted me to restart and reset......sheesh after all these years they should add to my account that I wouldn't call unless I did that several times.

But it mystically came back on and I didn't lose any of the 30+ running tasks.

Back to the several days of doing the clean install and update of Windows on one I decided to return to Win7

So now I am watching a tv program about honeybees (2 hours) *Vanishing of the Bees*

I went out and checked my apple tree that tipped over in the recent wind storm and the fact it has 100's of pounds of apples on the SW side and not much on the NE side.........I planted the tree in 1982..........so next Spring I will try to stand it up with my 4X4 and some rope and prop it up and trim it back since I would have to live off of apples when the power is gone and satellites are raining down on my neighbors (I have 4 satellite dishes which send out anti-gravity waves to keep the satellites from landing here)

Here in the NW we only have snakes that are more afraid of my mower than we are afraid of them (no poison snakes here)

I just remembered I shot video of thousands of honeybees that stopped on a tree behind my house last year........and didn't see them this year.......but I may have just not noticed them this time.

My hummingbirds are getting ready for Winter

Ok Annie I hope your power stays on and your computer gets some finished tasks here.........because.......I hand the cafe torch..........over......to YOU

Oh my, the power has gone

Oh my, the power has gone straight to my head... *throw imperious look EVERYWHERE* :)

Please stay calm and form orderly queues at the exits, people. And don't forget to thank Magic for my win :)

I'm very concerned for bees. I worry about them a lot. I think I told you all about my Bumble Bee in Crisis rescue efforts earlier this year :( I intend to do a lot better than that in future, I do. Yes :) The ones I've been finding for the last few weeks have been beyond my help unfortunately :(

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... there's just been a loud crash from the kitchen...

...........

*an investigative pause later*

I suggest we never go there again people :/ no. I think Diego was trying to catch a helicopter through the window. It might be a throwback reaction to when he used to live in a tower block when no doubt they looked more reachable, until someone tried to throw him off the roof of course, which was how my daughter ended up taking him in. After trashing her flat, I ended up with him. He's an interesting cat :)

Okay... well, the next time you see me will be when I am ruler of the next TLPTP....

no it won't... where's the start new thread button...? Hold on... I shall scour for it.

It's at the bottom - odd. For some reason my brain spent a moment doubting the spelling of bottom < --- but that time it didn't. Weird :)

ERM... I clicked report   but couldn't say why. It was to request a thread lock if anyone's wondering :) the new one is here
