Hmmm, they tested it for absolute ages at https://albertathome.org/en-us/community, where you can see in some forums that threads are over 3 years old. So pushing it as it is over to here feels like a rush job and doesn't bode well

To the contrary. We gave you (the community) and us much time to test the site on albert. We invited everyone to provide feedback (the top 100 community participants even personally via email) in order to avoid most obvious flaws. The site and it's design should therefore not come as a total surprise. However, the overall feedback during the public test phase was minimal and we tried to incorporate the feedback we got as good as possible. Of course we simply can't satisfy everyone's personal taste but, as I pointed out earlier, we will certainly consider any constructive criticism and further improve the site.

Best,

1. You have a cookie problem, because I get logged out all the time.

This only happens if you change the scheme or domain parts of the URL in between visits. We'll look into ways simplifying this.

2. I can't post anything in the "Post new comment" window because text is white and the background is white. Probably also a cookie thing. I have set my browsers not to store third party cookies and websites not to follow me.

So have I and I can't reproduce these issues. I'm not even sure how the session should influence the CSS styling.

Quote:

3. The Einstein browser favicon is nonexistent and has now changed to a blue arrow on a white background, or a shark, or something like that.

Already fixed.

Quote:

4. The layout hurts my eyes. Why is it that we're using only half my screen? Those big white bars left and right, if you must have them put them in a non-white colour. Or why not adjust things so they fill the screen? Yes, Drupal, good stuff, for on mobile devices. Or does this mean Einstein is now going for the mobile devices market with this setup?

This layout was chosen because reading longer text on wide screens is commonly regarded as bad ergonomic design and fatiguing which is why you read books in portrait rather than landscape format. And of course, while we're not primarily targeting mobile devices, we certainly want (and need) to support them better. But again, we know the current design isn't the final answer and we will continue to improve it, now that we have a foundation that's up to the task.

Quote:

5. My account -> Dashboard states I have been a member of my team since 1 January 1970, or the beginning of Unix time.

That's not a Drupal issue but a problem of the underlying BOINC DB. It just lacks a corresponding entry for when you joined (or founded) that team. Probably due to an old BOINC bug.

Quote:

6. My account -> Preferences etc. is using the old wording for the computing preferences, privacy and such. BOINC 7.6's descriptions and preferences now uses the same words between the local and online preferences, so Einstein's are clashing. I see they're for BOINC 6 as well.

There are no versions (or proper releases for that matter) for BOINC's server-side code. If BOINC's web labels changed in the meantime we'll consider those for an update. Christian already create a ticket for that.

Quote:

7. The "How do I post things" section under each "Post new comment", can't you put that under a "How do I post things" link to its own page? Or do you expect of people to scroll all the time, or open two of these "post new comments" tabs next to each other to see what's what? Nothing said about all the scrolling done to just see the preview.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean. Do you refer to the collapsed (!) "BBCode Help"?

Quote:

8. My account -> Community lacks basic functions such as rearranging the sticky threads so they're not sticky and how you want to receive the emails (single daily email or one per thing).

Agreed.

Quote:

There's also nothing showing what my selections are, but again that may be due to the cookie problem.

What do you mean by "my selections"? Of what?

Quote:

9. When on My account -> Credentials, you want to change your password, do you have to fill in that same password again to save the changes? Or another one?

The two "Change password" fields are meant for the new password and its confirmation (as usual), the (current) "password to save" is to authorise any credential changes.

Quote:

10. Forum index is still not showing who started a thread. Simple basic information.

It doesn't fit the current layout. For the time being we'll add it as a tooltip to the topic title.

Quote:

11. I just opened it in Dolphin on my phone and the text is soooo small, it's undreadable. And there the blue text on the grey background is a bad choice.

This is why we needed a new foundation for our site, we want full responsive design as soon as possible to better support mobile devices. In the meantime: any browser should come with a minimum text size constraint setting.

Quote:

12. Adding when the last post was to the index, but then not to one of the sticky threads that was last posted in, is just bad design. 10x Featured and guess which one of them changed places with the rest.

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say. The "Featured" topics also sorted by last reply (descending), like the regular topics.

Quote:

13. Of course putting the pages on https://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ and the preferences on https://einsteinathome.org/ isn't standard either! That's great for when you use a password manager of sorts, two places to log in to the same site.

Again, I don't understand. There's no content splitting. https://einstein.phys.uwm.edu shouldn't be used anymore for any browser-based access. However, we can't change the actual/technical project URL due to potential side-effects.

Thanks for your feedback.

Cheers,
Oliver

These figures are hosted on external sites which didn't have access to the latest statistics for one day. That was fixed already and we do see those numbers updated.

The Language status field displayed on the bottom of many screens is followed by a flag icon.  It appears to be set here account/prefs/community

1) All the en- language settings display the same (US) flag as "en-us"

2) It is not clear what the language list represents for example we have

French (France) - which seems to change the flag and site remains in English , and

French (Francais) - which behaves in a normal fashion.

Please note that our site uses the same crowd-sourced translation BOINC uses. BOINC itself transitioned to this service only a couple of months ago and has since then changed the list of supported languages over and over. We just haven't been able to keep up with those changes. We'll revisit the current list sync our site once again Undecided

a) here in this form with CSS styling there seems to be white text on white background - one needs to switch off CSS interpretation to see something - would be fine to have some visible text with CSS interpretation activated.
There seem to other styling issues, text larger than the background box etc.

Which OS and browser are you using? I can't reproduce any of these issues but you're now the second one to report the white on white issue.

Thanks,

At the top-level forums page

At the top-level forums page which for me has the URL:

https://einsteinathome.org/en-us/community/forum

Some of the forums listed show for me the threads count in blue, indicating a clickable link.

But in my case, for each of three trials, clicking on that link gets me a page not found error.

For example, just as I type my forums list shows a blue 4232 for the Problems and Bug Reports thread count for which the link provided is to this URL:

https://einsteinathome.org/en-us/community/community/forum/22

but actually clicking the link gets me the new standard Einstein page header, with PAGE NOT FOUND.

For that same forum, the forum title is also blue, and the (working) link provided there is:

https://einsteinathome.org/en-us/community/forum/22

It appears that the community/community/ doubling is an error for links provided for the threads column.
