Things missing in the new Drupal version

I thought perhaps it would be useful to have a thread in which users could comment on things they can't find in the new (as of August 5, 2016) version of the Einstein website.

I'm referring specifically to things that they thought worked and were useful in the old version that they can't find in the new version. These might be opportunities in some cases for guidance in the new way of doing things, in other cases the project people might consider undertaking a future upgrade, and in other cases the project people might advise us that particular capability will remain lost.

To start things off I have two "formerly useful things now missing" to offer.

1. If one starts at Account, selects a project, then "show computers", in that list of my computers, so long as I was logged in, the old version showed the names of my computers as they appear in my network (Stoll9, Acer2...) Which somewhere I think the site referred to as the "domain name". As of today this does not appear on the new version list of computers at all, so one is left to recognize one's computer by eight digit ID, a listing of some of the components, or by credit total or credit rate. Getting the names back would be nice.  I do recognize (and appreciate) that the computer names are displayed at the dashboard level.

2. The tasks lists are much less useful in the new version than in the late stage implementation of the old, where one could filter the tasks displayed by application or status, and for the last few months, had a wonderful addition of summary counts.  This allowed me to see, for example, the total number of pending GRP6 tasks in my fleet in a single number--vital for progress monitoring.

My hat is off to the project team for getting the web site back up and running in the predicted time, and I don't wish to appear ungrateful.  However, as I have no idea how easy or difficult resuming some particular desired feature might be, I think it could be useful feedback from users that we mention what we miss and why.

1. You mean this list?

1. You mean this list? https://einsteinathome.org/de/account/computers The name is in the second column.

2. That's right, the filter by application is gone from the tasks page. I also just noticed that the status filter is not on the tasks per host page. We'll add that to the todo list.

Can't seem to find how to

Can't seem to find how to restore "View:  'Recent Posts First'" in Threads.  Was this taken out?   For Threads like The Last Person To Post Thread, this was most useful.

True, but the specific one I mean is the one I see in navigating in the sequence I mentioned, which does not look like that:

1. log in

2. Click on Account

3. on the Account page, within the projects list click the Einstein@home project

4. on the resulting page, which for me is https://einsteinathome.org/account/21910, click "show computers"

5. the resulting page, which for me is https://einsteinathome.org/account/21910/computers, is the one I mean, and lacks the computer name, perhaps because the code does not think I'm "me" and is showing the page as it would show a computer list of some other user.

looking at the link you supplied, and contrasting to the one that is generated by following the link steps I specified, I noticed mine, other than lacking the german bit, also differed in the embedded account number, so I tried removing it by hand, so (as logged in, of course) I was looking at https://einsteinathome.org/account/computers

This one does have both a name and a location column, both of which are missing in the other.

So maybe my complaint is that the URL generated by clicking on "show computers" in a project page for a logged-in user perhaps should not include that users account number?  I probably should not guess.

I had trouble finding that, but it is just moved, not missing.

1. Log in

2. Click the Account tab

3. click Preferences

4. click Community

5. near the bottom find "Forum settings" and click the arrow to expand it if needed.

6. scroll to your desired number of displayed items, and sort order.

7. click "save changes"

In addition to not being able

In addition to not being able to find how to change the "View" back; it also seems that when one creates a new Thread, the First Post does NOT show signatures properly.  For example, in my LPTP Thread, under Rules, my signature is just displayed as Text; the BBCode is ignored.  However; subsequent posts show the signature properly.

[EDIT:]

Thanks for the quick response; I've just restored my "View" settings.  :-)

That's correct, it doesn't think, it (currently) treats you as any other visitor of your public profile. Your personal list of computers can be reached via your Dashboard, using the MORE button underneath your COMPUTERS list.

TL, could you post a link to an example thread where you don't see your signature? Thanks

I miss the jump to the first

I miss the jump to the first unread post.  I don't like to read the forums in reverse order.  Right now it's just a click to go the the last page so that'll do.  But I still miss the feature.

I'm not TL, but I'll post the link.   https://einsteinathome.org/content/last-person-post-here-wins-22

Edit:  It's only the first post, I think.
