I am not searching for referrals !

Well folks, there it is , the first "sponsor" that will pay you GridCoins
for crunshing.

But the hook is, will we paid for the past calculation we have made or current calculations we make ? I can´t see throught.

For the past it will be some unbelievable amount of coins that will be generated,
but can someone/anyone tell me

how much coins will be expected at 1,000,000.00 points of Einstein@Home points
for example ?

What will be a coin worth ? Or where can they paid out ? Or just another
currency whats nothing worth ?

Many, many questions. I will not convert into coins or other currencies, because here i will be forced to pay taxes for it XD.

Whats your thoughts about it ?

Greetings

Sounds too good to be true - if they pay anything of worth, they have to get something from you. And since that's not the BOINC work I wonder what it is. I've taken a somewhat longer look at the website but am still not clear. Would the users machine perform simple (and stupid) coin mining together with BOINC, i.e. the crunching power available for BOINc would be reduced?

i think only time will tell, or somebody who´s allready involved with it. I keep my nose on it.

Hopefully they don´t hunt for personal data, passwords etc.

please no extra crypto mining , that what i never been wanted to be involved with...

ok, there must be a parallel client installed with BOINC , sofar. Seems nothing more than that it is a cryptho thing, don´t know what exacly it is.

There is a lovely

There is a lovely conversation about GRIDCOIN in GPUGRID.net:
http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=4217
And as I have written there, I would happily start some, with a few coins.

There ain't no such thing as a Free Lunch.

Any aphorism that both Robert Heinlein and Milton Friedman played a role in popularizing is worthy of consideration.

If someone appears to offer you something for nothing, most likely they are counting on lifting the balance out of your pocket somehow (at least on average).

No, they should explain it. They've got a full website for this thing, but fail to easily explain what their software actually does on a prominent page. That makes me suspecious.

You were right, one hook is

You were right, one hook is that you have to join their team too, they want the counted calculated (generated) points. Just for fun ? There must be another reason too, but yet for me unknown.

There are several "explainations" what somebody have to do to join, but
i understand only i think about 2-5% of the text.

I joined their team for awhile and even got some gridcoins, I THINK what they are doing is using our coins to generate more coins and then paying us, similar to how a bank takes our deposits, invests it and then gives us a small portion of what they make off of our money. There is a profit to be made, when the prices go up, on buying bitcoins and then reselling them to someone else. Gridcoins are a small fraction of a Bitcoin, but they are comparable and can be converted back and forth between themselves. On some projects Team Gridcoin is kicking booty and there seem to be alot of members, on other projects not so much, they also only support some of the many Boinc Projects, they call it "whitelisting" at least so far anyway.

My problem was that I changed my password and then their webpage asked me for my old password instead, which I had deleted, it was a randomly generated one so I have no clue what it was, and I now have no access to my about $7 US dollars I earned in about 21 days. I was using both cpu's and gpu's to generate Gridcoins and it was going up every other day or so. It was fun and interesting but certainly wouldn't have paid any bills or anything like that, at least not for me and the resources I gave it. I could have also put my asic miners on it at Bitcoin Utopia but chose not too as my normal team would not have been too happy with me for leaving them.

1 Greed is the source of all

1 Greed is the source of all evilsMoney Mouth

2 But -alas, i'am crunching for 17 years and coming back after a longer outtime.

3 With astonishment I have realized that

4.1. you can crunch with a  'play computer' as much as with an entire small network ten years ago

4.2. you can  get paid for it  (with your soul as exchange)

5 Nothing extraordinary - time goes by and see LINE 1
