Seriously I am amazed at the 3D printing for surgical use. Take a knee joint replacement ( surface renewal ). Degenerating knee ? Run it through a high precision scanner, say MRI. The data from this can be used to generate a shape that is desired to bring back joint geometry to functional for you personally. Send that specification to the 3D mob that will form the prosthesis that will later be put into place in your knee. A bespoke joint surface profile accurate and suitable to fractions of a millimeter and of whatever suitable material ( presently variously composed alloys ). Plus the base side - that will be bonded to your femur or tibia - can be suitably shaped as well. In particular little ridges etc can increase the surface area for that adhesion.
Also two components can go in on each side : a permanent base plate for bone bonding, as a once only insertion, that has a clip-on or dovetail flange for the joint surface component. The idea is that if one wants to, or has to, re-form the joint surfaces then it is a relatively simply procedure to slide out the old & then re-insert a new joint surface.
RoboMod here I come ! :-0

Hmmm .... 3D printed Moderators? The trouble is that in some Boinc projects nobody could tell the difference :-)))) But if that is the whole point, then it looks like it's already been done!!

Ah. Marvin. Yes he would say that. He'd be just hanging around here to keep the mattresses flooping. And whingeing about door sounds. And parking spaceships. I quite like the guy, which possibly says more about me than him. :-)
I don't think we should replicate Annie. It would be like Sylvester Stallone, after his long and successful career, suddenly deciding to produce the same movie again and again with only slight variations on exactly the same plot*. It should be like Dr LoveStrangle : a piece of work in and of itself without compare.
Cheers, Mike.
* A weird thought I know, but you can't rule it out.

Does anyone know how you go about finding out if someone you don't have any contact details for and who is in another country, is okay? I sort of need to find out so that I can either rule in, or rule out, the very real possibility that I've gone mad. Thank you.

Ooh... that camera enclosure does look great, robl :)

I wouldn't recommend it either - definitely not at the moment anyway... unless you're into herds of soggy-eyed cows verging on the insane? In which case do please be my guest :)
Oh and erm... welcome to the A4 age Mike :)
Wave at mikey, Chris, David, TL, MAGIC, Phil, Bill, Uli, Gary and everyone else I've missed too :)
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

How about a 3D printed Annie?
How about a 3D printed Annie? Obviously she needs an extra of herself, or two or three.

RE: Good afternoon
TL thanks. I picked up the 3D print around noon. Extremely happy with the result. Here are some pics:

Gosh those pathologists are really at the bleeding edge, aren't they ? :-)
Cheers, Mike.
