Probably yes eventually, it may be pretty hard to print a fully flyable 3d jet fighter airplane right now, but I'm sure some of the parts could be done with no problem.

SK Airforce 3D-printing fighter parts

There some online portals send your 3D object and they will 3D print it. I wanted to make a 3D comet but it was a little expensive.

I finished a CAD drawing for a small USB camera mount today and ran it through the steps to ensure a successful print. I located a place in town about 5 miles from me that has 3d printers for many applications so I will run it by them on Monday (I called the local Staples store and they are set up for 3d). I only need it printed in ABS so I hope 1. its not too expensive and 2. that I my CAD effort is correct. Or it will look like a pile of ....

Heck he may look at what I have and not be interested in the effort. His website looks like he does some major builds.

3D printing is almost getting to the stage of Star Trek replicators. A computer controlled database of 3D plans of every object you can imagine, and a voice controlled bit of kit the size of a microwave.

Haven't quite got to the stage of Captain Picard and "Earl Grey, hot" just yet, but they are working on it!

They are even printing pizza according to the link!! It looked edible.

Er I'll take a rain check on that pizza!!!

The final product can only be made from what is sprayed on it by the nozzle, usually metals or plastics. I doubt they can spray whole anchovies and olives that taste loke anchovies and olives!!!

We had powdered metal disposition spraying back in the 1960's to build up bearing spindles for re-grinding. These days it is usually one of 7 methods.

Vat Photopolymerisation
Material Jetting
Binder Jetting
Material Extrusion
Powder Bed Fusion
Sheet Lamination
Directed Energy Deposition

In theory they can't spray edible foods in layers! An over enthusiastic journalist methinks!

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

Sure they can, if the raw material loaded into the printer is food in the first place.

Exactly, it's a gel that gets sprayed out in circles that when cooked melds into a pizza, hamburger or whatever.

Here's a link to a whole page of possibilities.

Astronauts have been eating 'gel' type foods for a long time, no big deal.

As mentioned before I went to

As mentioned before I went to a local 3D printer business today to inquire about having a small camera case printed. He said he would do it - not free. I was impressed. He only prints using ABS filament, has 4 machines priced at $120,000 each and had all of them up and running. At that price they need to earn their keep. One was making a part for an inboard/outboard boat. He showed me an identical piece he had finished earlier. Most impressive - quite large. Looked like an exhaust manifold in that it had curves etc.

Pick up my piece tomorrow. He looked at the CAD drawing I turned in and blessed it for printing. Now if my measurements are correct I should be good to go. If not well back to "more fun with CAD".

Good afternoon everyone.

Good afternoon everyone. :-)

Good luck, Robl, with your 3D printing project; I hope it comes out perfectly. :-)

Well it seems we can now have

Well it seems we can now have 3D foods but I dunno. On a long space voyage you'd have a hold foll of hundreds of different food gels. Might just be easier to pack a few thousand hamburgers and a hot drink vending m/c!
