Perseus arm, new search?

Just been looking round some of my machines and noticed that a lot of new BRP5 tasks are now labelled PBxxxxx as opposed to the usual PAxxxx...

Have we completed the first run already?
The server status page still shows approx. 18 days of work left (at the time of writing).

Have I picked up a load of 'oddball' tasks or am I seeing the beginning of the transition to the new run on the available data using different parameters?

Gavin.

The latter.

Actually all WUs of the "first run" have been generated and tasks sent out. The server status page shows basically the estimate time when these last WUs will be "finished" (i.e. tasks reported and validated and a canonical result found).

Note: the behavior of the progress counter for the GW searches (currently S6CasA) is different from all the others in that it shows the estimated time until all workunits were generated, i.e. how long there should be "work" "available". All other show the estimated time until all workunits will have been processed.

The BRP5 progress page will soon be updated (on Monday I hope) to report the status of the "second half" of BRP5.

That is good as I have been feeding very well on BRP 5 tasks and would hate top see them gone. They are very crunchy.

There seems to be more

There seems to be more validate errors with the new BRP5 PBxxxx tasks, unless it's just me

You are not alone... And the first round wingmen have been getting them as well.

So Far I have picked up 9 PB validate errors and 27 PA errors, mainly from just one host which I will have to investigate...

Probably unrelated but I have also noticed that the task runtimes have increased slightly by between 2 and 5 minutes depending on host.

Gavin.

P.S Thanks Bernd for answering my original question :-)

A question, should I switch

A question, should I switch over to BRP4 tasks vs the BRP5 tasks I have been doing?

Why would you do that? You

Why would you do that? You don't have any invalids so it should be business as usual for you.

There were some values in the new (random) template bank that exceeded the limits of the validator.

The problem should be fixed, a new validator is running, the old "validate error" results should be examined by the new validator again.
