I have a different problem with the FGRP3 Units for the GPU, it is breaking the whole system down close to uselessness. When a BRP5 Workunit is running I have no problems watching a movie or browsing the Internet next to it. With a FGRP3 on the graphics card I can't even write a text document.
I don't know if there's a problem with the code or my system. Either way it would be good if CPU and GPU Application can be selected or excluded as I have no problems crunching the these with the CPU.

For this I advertised in my Message 129501 dated Feb. 28th, but didn´t get any response until now. But at now, this is less important, as there is no other application for GPU crunching available (BRP5opencl-*** is down).
Furthermore FGRPopend-ati doesn´t run well with more than 1 instant (GPU utilization factor of FGRP apps = 0.5). The runtime doubles compared to FGRPSSE, so there is a loss in efficiency of factor about 9, as running 1 instant of FGRPopend-ati is running a factor 4.5 faster than FGRPSSE. I looked into the ´Task Manager´ and found, that the CPU-load changes thoroughly :
GPU factor______________|______1______|_____0.5___
------------------------------------------------------------
CPU-load for FGRPopend__|____~ 15%____|____<<1%
CPU-load for System_____|____~ 1.5%___|_____~21%
Maybe this is, because my CPU is not capable of HT??? I believe, it would be of help, if other fellowers would check this on theire system with other OS, graphic cards (NVIDIA, ATI) and CPUs (HT/non HT) and report here.
Try using the [ pre ] tag to build tables with whitespaces:
[pre]
GPU factor | 1 | 0.5
---------------------------------------------------
CPU-load for FGRPopend | ~ 15% | <<1%
CPU-load for System | ~ 1.5% | ~21%[/pre]

I'm running Win 7 x64 on a i7-3770K HT=On and crunching on the HD4000 it's also equipped with a GTX660Ti and I do not see the same change in CPU load. I've set the FGRP tasks to use one full core via app_config.xml and that's what they do running both x1 and x2, no change in system process load (0-1%, ~4.5h CPU time after ~2days 3h uptime).
Martin, after a bit of thought I know of awkward way to run FGRP3 on the CPU only by using you preferences. Turn off use GPU and only select FGRP3. Download how ever many you want, then return to your normal preferences.
There are 2 utilization factors, only change the one for FGRP apps and you should still be able to do BRP4G and BRP5 tasks if I interpret Bernd correctly.

Be careful with that assumption, my i5-3210M is a dual core with HT.

Kind regards an happy crunching

Well I tried that and it didn't work. I got this messsage
so I will revert to my normal preferences and not process any more FGRP3 until the app gets "more mature".

Bit of a dirty hack, but should work now:
Setting your "GPU utilization factor" to a negative value (-1) should prevent you from getting GPU work for this application.
