now i'm running 10 WU at once with 99% gpu load and estimated runtime about 31000 secs (3100 secs per WU)
you're well past the point of diminishing returns...and even if you were able to crunch 10 simultaneous tasks as efficiently as you could 3 or 4, it wouldn't make sense to do so when you know you could maintain the same level of compute efficiency running far fewer simultaneous tasks, and thus using far less GPU memory, and thus consuming considerably less power. there's no point in consuming more power unless its going to increase your PPD.
and even if you were able to crunch 10 simultaneous tasks as efficiently as you could 3 or 4
no. with 4 WUs it takes about 3300 sec. per WU and with 10 WUs it takes about 3100 sec. per WU, so efficiency is increased by 6%.
and i did not notice significally increased power consumption.

i was just using 3 or 4 as an example...there are quite a few whole numbers between 4 and 10...did you try them all to see if you can achieve the same level of efficiency as you do w/ 10 simultaneous tasks?...or to see if you've already passed the point of diminishing returns?...its possible that runtimes might be less than 3100s/WU when running in the range of say 5 to 8 simultaneous tasks. i'm just trying to confirm whether or not you tried them all or just jumped from 4 simultaneous tasks to 10 simultaneous tasks...
We decided to reduce the "bundle size" of BRP5 from 3 to 2, mainly to help people with extremely long run-times (which is pretty bad for a GPU App). This means that the run-time of new BRP5 tasks should be reduced to 2/3 of previous tasks. FpOps and Credit have been adjusted accordingly.

People with low end GPUs were having trouble finishing them before the deadline.

indeed, it is... i would prefer to reduce the workload further by another 50%, otherwise my 6850M is incapable of finishing in time.
Hmmmm.... How are you

Hmmmm....
How are you defining low end? I have a couple PCI (not e) GT 430's and they make it no problem.
That's about as low end as you can go nowadays, perhaps 'antique' GPU's would be a better description. ;-)

I have replaced my GTX 560Ti with a GTX 760 now. Unfortunately there are almost no improvements for BRP5 WUs. The run time is about the same :-(
GTX560Ti: 9900 sec
GTX760: 9500 sec
(both with 1 WU at a time)
