Just tuned in for a while to the US Health Care Summit.. I have come to the conclusion that right now America is ungovernable..:-)

Sometimes that is a good thing :-)

Bah! DownUnda we now have three ( or four, depending who you ask ) environment ministers : two for Climate Change ( one speaks, the other doesn't ), a demoted/demented one for openings & ribbon snippings & cuddly animal photo shoots, and this week a new one for roof insulation.

It's like a hydra. Everytime you ask for one to be sacked and you get more. It's making the Whitlam Years look sane by comparison ..... :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Hi, and thanks for the crunching effort! You can stay longer if you like. :-)

Since you were last here - we're now doing this pulsar detection work too, using radio data from Aricebo, the units are called ABP. Plus now some code for GPU crunching as well, called CUDA. It can be a bit confusing .... see Cruncher's Corner threads if you need.

Cheers, Mike.

Thanks Mike. I don't have any CUDA capable machines, so thats out for me. LOL The team I belong to, BOINC Synergy, has made this their Project of the Month, which is another reason I'm here. Its been a while since I've crunched here. Thanks for the info about the new WU's. And thanks for the welcome back!

[Rant on]
Governance is a complex endeavour. The basic purpose behind governments is to make policy. Democratic Governments, there is an added layer of also getting your message out. Making policy take time. Sometimes the policy is wrong. Sometimes the policy made, is not based on the facts, and sometimes the policy not based on the facts, is made intensionally. Governance is complex.

Government leaders in democratic societies, before they are in office, get on the stump and campaign on a vision on how they want to shape policy and how they are going to it (Campaign Promises) which are at the most, simple and cartoon like. Once they get elected, They get the picture of the complexities. Politicians who run for public office don't truly run just to get elected. They want to shape policy according to their vision and to do it, they just want to get elected.[Rant off]
