The trend of declining number of "active users" is consistent across all projects. Look at "Boinc combined users overview": BOINC combined users overview
For the period July 1st to July 18th:
Active users EAH dropped from (roughly) 48350 to 46600 (about 3.6% decrease)
Active users BOINC combined dropped from 263400 to 253900 (about 3.6% decrease)
It looks like summer vacation is affecting all projects.
*1. summer vacation, people turn off there pc's when they leave.
*2. the cost of keeping those pc's cool.
*3. alot of places have higher power rates for summer compared to winter.
our "water gas and light comission" recently adopted such a policy, power is roughly 25% more expensive during summer, and 25% cheaper during winter. (natural gas is oposit)
soo, this can explain why alot of folks are dropping off. more then likely just temporaraly. when winter comes i bet we see a surge in users :)
seeing without seeing is something the blind learn to do, and seeing beyond vision can be a gift.
The equation is not quite as simple as that being as half the world are experiencing winter at the moment.
Although of course there are more crunchers in the northern hemisphere than southern.

That’s likely a contributing factor, but the decline in active BOINCers seemed to start around mid-April, showing up in the stats around mid-May.
