My first invalid result

I've just noticed that one of my results has been marked as invalid — the first since I attached to this project in October. Of the two machines that "got the points", one has three inconclusive validations on its "Tasks" page (as I write) and the other has one hundred and ninety nine errors and abortions.

1. Is the validation likely to be correct?

2. What should I look for in the Stderr outputs to see where the differences lie?

Yes, and No. There are possible validation problems. The more recent ones are due to a bug in the NVIDIA driver, which should be solved. If yours is not related, and does occur more often, than please feel free to post in validation error thread. Otherwise one false result is nothing out of the ordinary, computers are also fallible, due to various technical reasons.

Just post the result id here, if that happens frequently; moderators or project admins than have a look.

Hi, Michael. Thanks for your

Hi, Michael. Thanks for your reply.

I know it sounds mean to query a single "Invalid" judgement. I was just surprised under the circumstances.

Both of my machines only run CPU applications for BOINC projects.

I did notice the "Validate errors [pls post here]" thread, but that seems to be more about explicit "Validate error" situations than questions raised by the validation-by-democracy process. (ie. "Did the other two machines happen to produce the same bad result or the same good one?")

I won't worry too much if it doesn't happen too often. :)
