I would use zip ties,

Same thing.  "Cable ties" is British for "zip ties".  We also say "Jubilee clip" for "hose clip" - another brilliant invention I use for all the wrong things - like attaching wires to car batteries.

Why not just cover the fan?  That protects it from all wires.  It's pure insanity to have something spinning at 5000 rpm without something covering it.

I buy them by the 100 or even 1000 if they are cheap enough

Same here.  You can also get reusable ones.

In some of my cases

Most of my cases are open, without any fans.  Just the GPU and CPU get fans.

I have rear, top, front and of course cpu fans all to run wires around so they get more zip ties than other pc's that have fewer fans.

Cover each fan as you put it in, then you don't have to concern yourself with wires.

Best thing is just take the side off.  Air can flow wherever it wants.

And it works well.  Unless you're in for aesthetics, then you'd buy a Mac.  I prefer things with function.

One fan blade hits a paw, they never go near it again.

It was them "scenting" the monitors I disliked.  Delaminated the LCD in a surprisingly perfect circle.

Is there enough CPU processing gain that going to the Am5 socket is worth it for boinc CPU processing?

Respectfully.

Or is it 3950x "forever".

;)

depends on the project. for applications that can use and benefit from AVX512, absolutely.

the higher clock speed and IPC of the 7000-series CPUs gives a nice bump for everything else.

just have to decide if the cap on 16c/32t and 1-2 GPUs is acceptable for you.

Any ideas on which CPU

Any ideas on which CPU tasks/projects take advantage of AVX 512?

Would bios updates likely

Would bios updates likely increase an Epyc mb processing speed?

I think one of the math projects might have an AVX 512 app.  But I don't run them regularly and am not currently knowledgeable which one might have those apps.

Maybe someone more familiar can chime in to tell us.

[Edit]

N.B

Primegrid has a AVX512 app for their LLR applications. Primegrid supports AVX512
