I live at the beach and as you can imagine there are not alot of mom and pop computer stores around here and there are zero big box pc stores within 25 minutes of my house. As I drove from place to place I would see a board with a pc store name on it and I would stop in and talk to them about buying small parts like adapters or even getting pc's fixed or buy ones they were getting rid of for my parts bins and some were very helpful while others didn't want anything to do with what I wanted. One actually sold me a 2 year old Mac laptop for $250 with me bringing him a 500GB SSD drive and he installed the Apple software on it and I still use it on trips today, that was 6 years ago!! One shop I kept passing by though is the one I'm using more now than ever because a neighbor said they were removing all the spyware crap he was getting on his laptop because he was falling for every single fly by night scam that would come his way. TWICE he fell for the people calling him and then having him give them access to HIS pc remotely before his wife heard him saying what are you doing to the laptop several times and she pulled the battery and took it to the shop and they had it fixed in less than 8 hours!! It's literally a 10 minute round trip from my home but their sign indicates they are into business stuff ONLY so I never stopped in. Turns out their main business is figuring out what companies need for their pc's and then building one for everyone in the office and then providing tech support for as long as they want it. The tech LOVE gaming so getting their hands on higher end cpu's and gpu's means they get to both play games and benchmark the pc to help decide if that cpu and/or gpu would be a good fit for their clients.
I agree up to a point, I'm not as young as you are and have a tremor in my right, dominant, hand pills only mostly control so me doing intricate work is sometimes impossible, and why some things take much longer than they should these days, so me using some of my mad money to pay someone else to get me crunching with something new is worth it sometimes.
I ain't young I'm 47. But my steady hands are probably the only thing working right. Actually I have perfect hearing and eyesight. It's just my memory and my muscles that are knackered. And my teeth, too much chocolate.
It amazes me in the 21st century we can't fix something as simple as a tremor. You just need a resistor across the nerves to the muscle to damp the oscillations. It must be an electrical fault.
If this page takes an hour to load, reduce posts per page to 20 in your settings, then the tinpot 486 Einstein uses can handle it.
You lucky bugger! So you'll be tanned and fit then.

When I used to build PCs to customer spec for cash, I'd test them using Boinc to make sure nothing crashed or overheated. I sold two to people training to fly in British Airways! Very realistic flight simulator, just like the real plane, they already have 6 massive monitors and a flight yoke and stuff. I built them both a £2500 box with enough power to run everything smoothly. Not profitable anymore though, due to two of the er.... sources of parts not supplying them er.... cheap anymore.

too slow for things I need 1 or 2 of they are usually 2 or 3 weeks away and probably on some container floating across the ocean, lately I use amazon but that means putting a stop on a project and it sitting there waiting

He admitted he wasn't thinking and fell for the fake story on the phone, he even tried THREE TIMES to send money using his credit card before the company put a hold on his card and they hung up on him and told him the Sherriff was on the way to arrest him. That's when his wife took his laptop away and gave him an Ipad instead as most hackers can't get you to do the same things on it. I'm not sure he even has the Master Password to it just a User password.

I'm 70!!! I wear reading glasses too but not regular 'seeing' glasses at least not yet. My hearing is still good too. My memory is the typical 'what did I come in here for' stuff LOL!! My dentist wishes my teeth were bad but they aren't, twice a year cleaning is all I need.

Little things like that I have several spares, I buy another 10 from china when I'm running low. Or get them from the UK 1st class post, only takes a couple of days.

I can't understand that lot on the phone anyway. They don't leave gaps between the words. My phone blocks scam callers anyway, I have an app that looks up the number before making it ring. My father doesn't, and he responds with words a lot ruder than "that lot".

I know Gout is treatable (I take that medicine to avoid both Kidney stones and Gout flair ups.)
I read about deep brain stimulation. I wonder if it can be applied to your case.

That's another 'issue' with living at the beach all the Dr's that even know anything about that are at the Major Hospitals and ours are all Regional at best. We had one neighbor who got breathing problems after getting Covid and the Respiratory Dr made his once a week trip to our Hospital and told her. 'oh you got this from Covid make an appt in a month and if you're still alive I'll see what I can do' needless to say her daughter went ballistic and took her up to Johns Hopkins in Maryland and they had her in the ICU for 3 days on oxygen etc treatments and she's much better but the damage done bu waiting made her life span down to about 2 years max now! She's 73 and was in good health otherwise, she and her husband went someplace and caught it and it just hit her like a ton of bricks while he had a mild case and has recovered. YES they both had their shots.
I do take pills for the Gout but their range of the numbers being 'okay' is much higher than the range for my old Dr in Virginia so I have to be more careful about what I eat.
