A Penny Farthing bike from the 1890's well before there were any cycling laws regarding brakes or lights. However most Penny Farthings were fitted with Spoon Brakes operated by a lever on the handlebars.
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now
This story will only fuel the war between cars & pedestrians against cyclists.
Can one hope prejudice does not inflame matters? Be it within our own narratives or that of the media?
extract:
Several years before anyone thought of stringing wire across Brighton woodland, Times columnist Matthew Parris half-jokingly advocated a similar idea in a piece titled: “What’s smug and deserves to be decapitated?”
The story asks why? The utter refusal to obey traffic laws. Too many times you see a cycle club forming a peloton on a street open to traffic. Then they get to a intersection and don't even bother to slow down blowing through a red light. All this usually in a residential area and guess what that teaches the children. So those who take it upon themselves to enforce society's norms do some street justice. I hope no one who posts here fits that description.
Street justice? Is that what it's about? I think it's a lack in understanding one another. Talking about deserving decapitation has nothing to do with justice. You ride a bicycle so deserve to be decapitated?
no brake
no brake
Yeah well that is another one
Yeah well that is another one of those fixed wheel bicycles!
