This could be due to a fairly common "Graphics bug" that seems to bite quite a few people. Can you tell us:-
* Is your video hardware ATI? - the graphics problem is bad with ATI hardware.
* Do you have the very latest drivers installed? - Check
this thread.
* Did the problem occur when you were trying to "Show graphics"?
* Did the problem occur when your BOINC/Einstein screensaver kicked in?
If you have the graphics bug please look around and you'll find dozens of threads explaining your options. Here is a very recent one for example but there are lots more.

I've looked at your computer 478516 and found for work unit 2885210 ( it's very first ) and that you got
'Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)'
Now if you go here and paste the quoted error as above in the search box on the middle left you will get one match, click on it to lead to here
which indicates a likely graphics driver problem that you could attend to. Please let us know how you go.
Cheers, Mike
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Mike I checked and I have the most up to date driver there is for my Dell PC. Any suggestions would be appreciated. BTW the SETI project is finishing with no problem at all it just seems to be this project. :-(
Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
You have the "graphics bug". Read this thread. And also read about the Beta application.

Steve,
Now that you've ensured your driver is not in the equation, please check Stick's Graphics Bug post for the next (and probably final) step.

Mike turns out it may very well have been a screen-saver error. I disabled the screensavers and just started shutting my monitor off and no errors. Thanks for all the help.
