Well tbret, I sense your concern. It is valid. The situation can be summed up very neatly : "Anniet". She's like some induction coil for lunacy. I have previously & correctly described* her as "a bloody force of nature" and I do not retract from that statement one whit.

I guess the only remaining question is our legal liability to warn before entering the relevant threads eg. "Beware of The Anniet" or "Anniet on Property", maybe "Psychohazard Zone : Anniet Radiation". Suggestions ? :-)

[ Further study may of course reveal The Anniet Boson being the quantum of The Anniet Field. If she is a natural force we have to fully apply quantum field theory IMHO. Need to build The Large Harmattan Collider under the project codename "The Hardhattan District". ]

Cheers, Mike.

* though I did venture into "Celtic witch" and a few other terms. But what if she actually is one ie. she weighs as much as a Celtic Duck . I don't advise anyone else following my lead. I may well not Fear The Reaper, but that doesn't mean I have to be a flagrant lightning rod .... hands up those who want to die peacefully of old age when asleep, eh ? :-)

( edit ) As for Phil Dick, well he was the paranoid's paranoid. He used to pester the FBI to release the file they had on him. Eventually they did & completely : it was full of his letters requesting that they release his file to him. Reportedly he was a tad miffed about this, he thought they would judge him a far greater threat. Alas not. But his A Scanner Darkly was brilliant - book & film - and rather more prescient than anyone wants to crack a smile about now.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Ah yes tbret The Presidents Analyst is a classic especially when you were 12 years old when you first saw it,and never forget it.

I don't know whether to be impressed, gratified, or horrified that you knew that reference from no more than I said.

But you don't remember Woody Allen's hiccups?

I know you saw it. Maybe it's better if you don't remember it.

Hint: The movie starred a lot of famous people who must have really needed a paycheck more than to see their names on screen.

By the way, Dr., I loved the Fawlty Towers with Cleese beating the car with the tree limb / twig. In fact, I can't think of a Fawlty Towers episode I didn't like. A lot of Allo Allo episodes were good, too. Blackadder was my favorite, though.

Edit: Magic, "Duck You Sucker" was one of my favorite movies for a long time. Duster, motorcycle, and all.

Edit, edit: I currently have it set to record on my PVR (I did that after football Saturday night) so that my grown son can be subjected to it when he's home for Christmas break.

@Phil : sorry about the 'aspirin' which weren't really the problem. Per se. The deeper trouble was that I gave you two of them at once. Being reality re-setting drugs you became recalibrated for two versions of The Universe simultaneously. Awkward huh ? I probably should have waited a good time interval b/w each, say before and after a meal like the pharmacists always go on about.

Anyhows, not to worry. This sort of thing always settles down by itself in a year or two. Typically. So no worries mate ! :-)

Cheers, Mike.

Baby Mike navigating his way out of a bowl...

:))))) Now I understand why you kidnapped Richard... a brain in case the Tardis malfunctioned...

ANOTHER guerilla triple! :)
I like it :) We have the makings of a revolution... The TLPT Spring... :)

:))))))))) So you don't think robl suffered enough getting wedged in David's antenna like a chunk of sweet and sour prawn between chopsticks then... :)

@Kavanagh :)
Archimedes

LOOK! Look at that everyone ^ Finally! Someone with TWO brain cells to rub together. Kavanagh - if there was any way I could convince everyone that Archimedes was born on the 26th of July 1939 I would do so. But you've seen the weapons cache against me :/

I'm suspecting you're thinking of one of his principles of something? Perfectly understandable connection. VERY impressed :) You are a well-joined up thinker - I hadn't realised just how large a red herring shoal I'd thrown out there for you :) Let's hope your post has been left unanswered long enough to have got the rabble mindlessly chasing their tails! Heh heh heh :) and while they do it... here... have this :) *hand Kavanagh something very VERY twinkly* :) This one's very special :) Not the first I'm sure, but the first we found :)

And while I'm handing them out - here's one for you TL for passing the 1.5 million mark!! :) Congrats!

When are you opening the bar?

Ah well... I was hoping AFTER the cleaners had been in... but there appears to have been... a delay... :)

@Mikey
Hi Mikey - I'm not a keen flier either - did way too much of it as a child - a lot of it squished behind the pilot's seat of my dad's light plane, or landing and taking off on ground that embedded my teeth nice and squarely into my tongue :/ and I'm pretty sure he was rarely sober whilst doing it too... and then there were things like...

... being lunch...

But enough chit chat... I thought leaving you lot clueless for a couple of days might have allowed SOMETHING to percolate through the mists... but no... instead you've spent your time chasing grapes and painting signs.

And casting aspersions... *tilt nose to offended angle* ...

ANOTHER spelling error Mike? Might I recommend retracting that wit... it seems a shame to part with something already in short supply... you never know... you might need it to get icecream out of a bowl and into your face or something...

LOOK WHAT YOU'VE ALL DONE! Do you people understand and accept your responsibilities, here?

*Wait for tbret's feet to stop kicking...*

Feel better now? :) I think, given your little outburst, that it's time I stepped in and give you all a helping hand... Therefore!

Anniet's task for today is... to rub your little nosey-woseys in things :) and then to sit back and watch you all fall apart :)

Here we go then... noses at the ready everyone? :) Let's get rubbing!

Quote:
It's how you put ALL the bits together :) which is key to not meeting your demise today even though others have done so before you... at varying intervals of course... and in much less decorative ways than as human brooms.

Now... I considered popping a little hyperlink in for you to locate the quote :) but decided not to as I have already pointed you at it with a little cartoon about a leg, but it seems to have passed you by :)

So look for it... :)

And... as Yeats's Second Coming got you nowhere fast (perhaps because of your efforts painting "stop" signs *roll eyes* ... I say this... sandwiched between the falconer and the centre is what Dr Melfi did NOT say. It's been there all along - from the very very very very very very beginning... my loose straggly to someone that isn't who you seek but who might lead you there if you follow him forward... :) much like Jocelyn Bell might have done if you'd followed her backwards :)

Sucky sweet anyone? :))))

edit: or perhaps some of Mike's "aspirin"? :)

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

Regarding the grapes : loud

Regarding the grapes : loud wining has been heard near a road junction after some vintage motorists underwent a crushing experience. There is much wrath. A revolution ferments.

Cheers, Mike.

But I do watch this one a few times every year on the classic westerns channel

(I should put that on the gate at the end of my driveway now that I think about this)

I don't know if it's legal to hand out free movies like that.

As for people born 26 July 1939 we have:
1939 John Howard (Australian Prime Minister 1996-2007)
Bob Lilly Football Player (1939-present)
Wopko Jensma, Middelburg, Eastern Province, South African poet and graphic designer
Richard Marlow, English organist and conductor (d. 2013)
Jun Henmi, Japanese author and poet (d. 2011)

Something that happened that day was:
United Kingdom IRA Roundup Jul. 26th 1939 : The British government is set for lightening strikes against the IRA ( Irish Republican Army ) to round up over 5,000 suspects to stop the sabotage and terrorist activities now that the new emergency government bill has been passed.

And on 26 July 1939:
Adolf Friedrich Johann Butenandt (1903-1995)
got the Nobel Prize
for his work on sex hormones
Germany
Berlin University - Berlin, Germany

And something for those American readers:
Mary Jo Kopechne, American aide to Robert F. Kennedy (b: July 26, 1940)

That roadsign was because the painter got a speeding ticket that morning. It stands for "s-d off the police". He's hoping nobody will notice for a couple of days.

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

Funny thing, last night after I mentioned that movie so I tried to see if it was on Youtube.

Yes it is......if you want to pay somebody $2

I never copy movies since they are always on the Encore movie channels every year on the dish.

I guess if I put that picture on my gate it might scare the UPS driver away......can't have that!

OK I scraped the 4inches of snow off my car so off I go.........
