The GPUs use less then half CPU capacity, and I would like to choose from tasks that will ignore the GPU waiting list.

Any tasks CPU only? ..

My tasks have all been CPU. I don't even know if my pc has GPU. Look up my pc...

All I ever do is "Gamma-ray Pulsar Search #2" and "Gravitational Wave S6 Line Veto Search (extended)."

If one of the smart guys will tell me if I'm giving you the right information, I hope he'll jump in and say so. I am very new and don't want to steer you wrong. I keep wondering why I don't have any GPU work.

YES Gamma-ray pulsar

YES

Gamma-ray pulsar search

Gravitational Wave S6 LineVeto search

And even those Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo)

All you have to do is set your Einstein@Home preferences "Use CPU" to yes

And then "No" for both types of GPU

There is also the setting " Run CPU versions of applications for which GPU versions are available" (which includes the BRP's if you want them to use CPU and take 20X longer)

It looks like you do not have a video card that is able to run the GPU tasks fadedrose......you would have to buy a new card and install it if you want to do that and we have a list of all the many cards here on a thread.

What model of PC is it? I seem to recall you saying it's a Dell, which may mean it does not have any suitable expansion slots for a new video card.

Look at her version of Boinc! It is 6.8.44, it seems to be working but GOOD GRIEF that is old!!!

Fadedrose I am amazed that that version is even still allowed, it is easy to upgrade if you choose, BUT before doing so you will want to set all your projects to no new tasks, then after all the units are gone do the upgrade. Going from version 6 to the newest release version, which is 7.0.64, is a huge change and most units won't transfer, meaning they will just crash.

Actually, the 6.8 range is the Progress thru Processors version of BOINC, with 6.8.44 having been released on 22-Aug-2012. Not that old, and exactly what Intel (and Sony) asked for.

Dimension 9150, mfrd 032906 -

Dimension 9150, mfrd 032906 - It just had its 7th birthday.!!

And was looking for something in "help," and one of the "warnings" said that Automatic Updates will end for this pc next year.

The problem is that me and the pc are both old. I am 75 and can't see putting a bunch into something I won't live long enough or have the health to use. If I could just get a new card for the brain - no list for that. And there's no card for aching fingers either.

Don't get old guys.

My main worry with the system I have now is will it blow up without GPU? The shop where I get my work done also sells used computers, and it might be cheaper to get a new old one for $129.00 than take this one in and get it worked on. They generally get them from offices where they're gently used.

THANK YOU! What a beautiful

THANK YOU! What a beautiful list. When I get a chance, I'll run it off and take it over to Ken the computer guy and see if it would bankrupt me to get it.

It is really a nice list.
