Dear fellow crunchers,

the new Fury X and Fury (released today) should be ideal for Einstein due to their massive memory bandwidth of 512 GB/s. Which is significantly higher than the 300+ GB/s the prior top cards achieved.

Does anyone run such a card and can provide any details? Or have you spotted one in the stats? They're too new to be visible in the top hsots (RAC takes time to climb) and their availability is scarce.

AMD Fury GPU

This is the first I've noticed: http://einsteinathome.org/host/7526859/tasks

It seems this GPU is running 3X WU in 2000 to 2200 sec. Worth upgrade!

Why do You think it crunches

Why do You think it crunches 3 WU at once?
Can't it be only 2?

Seems to me that to finish a Parkes WU in ~2200 secs would indicate one WU at a time, I would expect 2x ~5500-6500 secs and 3x ~9500-10500 secs...alas, I don't know how big a difference there is between opencl apps and cuda apps, but it's worth a rough estimate

I am running an AMD HD7990, twin gpu, each running at x3.

Normally these complete ~6900s.

I would expect the Fury X to be at least 25% faster.

Is is very hard to speculate what that host is doing (it may be running other projects for example as well as E@H) but i noticed it was completing about 40 BRP6 tasks per day. This would match to running x1 for 24 hour running - (or could be x4 for 6 hour running)

?
1WU 2200 but 2 5500? 3500 sounds more accurate. While 3 - 5500sec
It looks for me that it's one WU at once - also WU in progress is only 1.

If that is 1x WU at about 2070 = 34.5 min per WU ...
that would generate a theoretical RAC of about 183,600
Then, there would be gains running 2X 3X etc.

If that thing IS running 3X I'm buying one :-)

Bill

edit - AH ! Thanks 288larsson

Not bad?
My old 7950@1000 with 3WU at once does it ~ 7700sec. And if I release one more CPU core it's 7400.
So many years and so little advantage?

I Dunno - 288larsson's i7-4770K says it has only 2 cores ?
Not sure what he is running there.
