upgraded pc to 400mhz but only have 48mb ram ...can i ?
is there no way i can use boinc mngr.
i cant understand how i can use the classic version of seti@home but not the boinc version.
what will i do when all classic accounts r transferred
to the new boinc system.
will i still be at least able to use the classic version.
i use setimon with a cache of 5 work units.
why do we need so much ram.
ie 64mb for seti which i have in my other pc and yet
that doesnt work with boinc
75mb for einstein.
the pc i am using now (400mhz) has only 2 dimm slots
in one is 32mb and the other 16mb
even if i get a 32mb dimm i still wont be able to use boinc with 64mb
what will it cost me for say 2 64mb dimm cards ..do these exist i don`t know.
what i am asking is any suggestions of how i can expand my memory with 2 dimm slots.
thankyou for your assistance.

They had to raise the limit because of the screen saver, you turn it on and the app took a dive.... Yes they make dimms in large sets, it has been a while but I think up to 256 at least. Hope your box can handle more memory cause some of the older boxes had limits......

I always turn the screen saver off on my machines 'cos thay don't have 3-d cards. I would hope that it would be possible to configure the lcient not to load the screensaver and therefore not to need all that extra memory?
If this is not possible with the current client, maybe it should go in the wish list for a future release, ideally an install-time option to disable the screen saver totally and not even have the associated files on the system.

You'll have to do some

You'll have to do some research on your motherboard to find out how much RAM it can support, but you can buy DIMMs of 1GB if you want.
48 is 16 plus 32, which is

48 is 16 plus 32, which is likely the memory cards your pc is using.
You could throw out the 16 meg memory card and throw in another 32 in it's place.
Or.. you could probably put in two 64's or 128's.
