No, seriously, these are not logos of colleges that have a few of their computers crunching for Einstein (although they may do that, too, of course), but logos of universities etc that contribute to the science behind the Einstein@Home project.

The front page has the avatar of the user of the day as well as cycling the logos of the main science contributors, reflecting the fact that both kinds of input are essential.
If your school joins the project as a single user, with one or more machines donated to the project, then it would very occasionally get its avatar up as user of the day. That means you'd also want to design an avatar around your school logo.
Maybe it would be nice to have team logos / avatars on the front page as well, ("team of the day") in which case a school (or any other group) could get their logo up occasionally simply by the students (members) forming a team
