A post here on EAH just sparked a question in my mind given that SAH has been virtually useless from an interactive POV for almost 2 weeks now.
A comment was made by Bernd I believe that a major overhaul of the EAH website was being deferred until the BOINC transition to Drupal was more developed.
The question is:
Are the current problem with SAH's website due to these teething problems with Drupal, given that the majority of site responsiveness trouble has to do with pulling the 'static' content off the site?

To be honest, I'm not seeing any problems with the SAH website just now. Work-allocation scheduler, and task validator, yes: but not the website.
There were major website problems commencing 22 February 2010, but they seem to be related to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8550219.stm: "Fake drug scam hijacks UK college websites". Eric Korpela posted "Looks like it came from Ukraine so far. But it's a dial-up pool so that doesn't narrow it down much."
The website itself looks identical to the pre-hack version: there were teething troubles with the restore from a 16 January backup, but they're sorted now. Overall, I don't think the SETI administrators have a spare second to think about Drupal.

So you're saying you're not experiencing long loading delays when trying to pull things like avatars, signatures, et al (which are 'static' content) on the forums and other site pages?
Also, keep in mind that Dr. Anderson has been know to roll BOINC stuff out on SAH regardless of whether Eric, Matt, or any of the other astronomers and tech staff think it's needed (or even a good idea) from a science context POV. ;-)

No, I'm not. I run with default settings (show avatars, show sigs, show images, load 75 posts in long threads etc.) - the full monty, and it's all working for me.
To be honest, there are times - like when the BOINC Synergy server crashes, and JM7's signature can't be found - when I do see delays, but that can't be laid at SETI's door (nor any of the other BOINC projects which lack the display of that particular signature). I do occasionally see page load delays because unread_sticky.png or head_20.png are slow to load - that's definitely a BOINC issue - but it hasn't been any worse than usual at SETI recently (or than any other project).
Don't I just know it. Didn't you read Yet another forum update bug? (now there's a thread which will take a while to load)

Yep, a trip down memory lane there! In fact, I may have had that subconsciously in mind while I was posting. :-D

I don't see any issues with the web site, alart from all the signature files it has to get. Maybe its time to clean out your IE (or whatever browser you use) cache and nuke all the cookies?

Unlikely, as I had been trying different hosts, browsers, and locations for a while.
In any event, after I posted about it over at SAH, the problem went away the next I checked in there to see what was up. Go figure! :-D
