Impressive computing power proved by MilkyWay@Home and low cost made a glory for this "crunchers weapon".
If project developers made an "ATI-based" application I will direct my "Radeon blade" on battle with Einstein@Home units.
Crunchers! Vote for Radeons! :-)
P.S. Excuse me please, if my Einglish is not right. :-)

Voting for ATI Radeon
)
the english will do, i've seen worse tbh.
i have a 2600 xt card that could be utilized if a project would be nice enough to build an app which can use it.
my card's
Nvidia:
gtx 260.
2x 9400 gt
ATI cards:
2600 xt

I have used Ati Radeons for almost 10 years and, they are good GPUs.
The 5800 series ( soon to be released ) will be very powerful.
Outclassing anything Nvidia has until March - April 2010.
I made it up to 1 million cobblestones on a single Radeon HD4850
in less than 2 months over at Milky Way.

You could use your 2600 XT over at Collatz Conjecture. The milky way programmer
‘Gipsel’ or CP created an ATI app for that project as well.
( It does not require double precision. )
The 2600xt is kind of an ‘energy guzzler’ however, as you know :-)

yea, your right on the energy(sitting in a box), and it's a hot piece of silicon to be honest, i think the thing runs in the 120 C range if that is possible, it's not very well cooled.
thanks for suggesting collatz. math is 3rd on my list. drugs(rose, WCG, DD@H), space sciences, then math.

Absolutely ! It should be BOTH.
I think that the original poster was not advocating ATI exclusiveness
but, rather a ( Vote if you will ) or recommendation to ‘Include’ ATI.
If the Einstein staff announced the they were no longer going to support AMD CPUs
and the project is now for INTEL CPUs only,
they would lose a lot of computing power.
I realize the CPUs are X86 compatible and easy to program for both
so, not really a fair analogy .
Right now, Both the Milky Way and Collatz Conjecture projects run just GREAT on either
ATI or Nvidia hardware !

RE: RE: why does their

thats exactly my point sir, i get that its a PITA to program for both. but this is a scientific project and they have done a pretty darn good job of staying impartial when it comes to hardware. if they choose nvidia over ati or ati over nvidia is gonna tick a lot of people off and it would give the implication of partiality towards one architecture over the other.
now if one or the other where footing the bill for development, hardware, software, etc then i could see them picking one over the other. atleast to begin with.
seeing without seeing is something the blind learn to do, and seeing beyond vision can be a gift.

nVidia has given some, if not enough to finish the job, technical assistance in developing an app. ATI hasn't done anything.
The ATI GPU clients running
)
The ATI GPU clients running at Milkyway and Collatz were coded and compiled by Gipsel, and work very well.
My ATI HD4850 (best bang for buck ATM) produces 1 million CS in less than 2 weeks (~13 days) when stable.
