A new Einstein@home ABP1 App for Mac OS X (Intel) is available for Beta Test at Beta Test Page.
This is a big package to download (26MB), as it contains the 5.09 ABP1 applicatin as well as the current 5.01 S5R5.
The new ABP1 App should mainly benefit from using SSE in the FFTw (and some other parts).
app_info.xml does contain entries for ABP1 5.07 and 5.09 and S5R5 5.01, tasks assigned to older apps will error out.
Please test and report.

ABP1 5.09 App for Mac OS X (Intel) available for Beta Test
)
Ran the first 2% of ABP1 units, seems to be twice as fast as 5.07 on my Nehalem MP, but it's still too early to tell until they are completed.
However, though unrelated, I'm getting errors on this particular Hierarchical S5 work unit after a long 5-minute run without any progress:

The rest of the S5 WUs just follow suit.
Downloaded new S5 units, but

Downloaded new S5 units, but end up the same fate, all with the following repeating messages:
Sat Aug 8 01:29:46 2009 Einstein@Home Restarting task h1_0960.35_S5R4__1410_S5R5a_0 using einstein_S5R5 version 501
Sat Aug 8 01:29:47 2009 Einstein@Home Task h1_0960.35_S5R4__1410_S5R5a_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
Sat Aug 8 01:29:47 2009 Einstein@Home If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.
Anyone has any clue why this

Anyone has any clue why this is? The S5R5 App is _identical_ to what's running as our official App out there. Any clue how an app_info.xml file could affect its behavior wrt restarts?

Would love to crunch only

Would love to crunch only ABP1, but without such option, looks like I have no choice but to revert back to the stock 5.07 right after I've finished all my 8 ABP1 units.

Hmm...there's a tag in there that's specifying the BOINC client API version number, maybe that influenced the way hardbeats are communicated?
EDIT: could it be a permission problem?

Not so difficult, you can edit the app_info.xml und throw out what you don't want...

Did 16 WUs, 7 validated, 9 pendings. Average crunch time dropped from 32K sec to 15.5K sec on my 2.66GHz Octad Nehalem MP with HT enabled.
Just an update. My MP

Just an update.
My MP crunched 166 ABP1 units for the last 2 days, so far 115 units validated, 50 pending, and 1 invalid.
The invalid unit is linked below:

I would like to participate
)
I would like to participate in testing the proposed Beta versions on my Intel Mac (iMac8,1, OSX 10.5.8). I downloaded the folder named "einsteinbinary_ABP1_509_i686-apple-darwin" and, when I opened that folder , I was surprised to see five files whereas the Installation instructions mention three files. How should I proceed with the installation ? Sorry for being so naive or uneducated. Thanks for a hint. Jean Jeener.
Since I installed the Beta I
)
Since I installed the Beta I cannot get any new work for S5R5 5.01 and work for ABP1 5.09 is very rare.
