Stupid -- Why is *@Home an email address by default?

Where is the common sense that "@home" does not have a domain extention and therefore is not an email address, eh?
I'm in constant link correction mode until this "emerging lingo" is made "valid" by properly coding applications to respect it is NOT AN EMAIL ADDRESS!! And I am not the only one.... the head dude at FightAids@Home sent out a bad link in his reply to me. BOY OH BOY!

Specifically the issue is the following:
[ This Text was orginially typed in Microsoft Outlook Express V6.00.2900 ]
As with many "text" and "web" tools, auto links are generated when typing...
such as www.einstein.phys.uwm.edu
This is now a "autogenerated" link, you see.... which is of type
"http://"
And when email addresses are typed, such as my own:
bonic-[at]-inthemindway.org
another auto generate link is created. This is generated of type "mailto:"
Now, if I were to follow with typing out: einstein@home
An autogenerated link again occurs. I would rather it not be a link at all...
but it is of type "mailto:" which is not right. Try the link for yourself.
Now once I just typed the above, there is the [SOURCE] tab in my application.
This is where I am going to "copy" and "paste" it to the Cafe Einstein[/url]
Now you have what truely is the problem. The idea is that *@home autogenerates a error link by it's default behavior. And this is not the only tool that has this same problem.

Nor does Gmail.

Hello,
so you have told one of your other programs to interpret certain letter combinations as a link, a mail adress, or something else.
First thing I do with such dumb programs like winword, is removing this 'feature' (as it's a bug imho).
If I need this, I will say so for this certain occasion, otherwise a text program should write just what I type on my keyboard. Some hint about possible misspellings is fine, but anything automatic without my explicit agreement is a bug!
If you don't like this behaviour, complain @Billy, or whoever else does such 'features', but not here.

In most 'Doze programs, writing @ home, @ billy, etc, will convince it that it is really text and not a link.

I have to take exception to your suggestion that I shouldn't complain in here -- for my reasons are directly related:
Cafe Einstein
Discuss anything relating to Einstein@home
It could be just that bug issue -- not sure if I want to totally turn off the feature.... I will place a note at microsoft if that will do anything.... As my orginial post here stated, I am not the only one sending out these bogus links.
Let me do a web search for "mailto:*HOME".
The results of that would tell me how to proceed on this issue. Maybe I should have done that in the first place.....
But I am sure I going to find z/b/millions or maybe a trickle of examples.... Even a trickle shows that there is an issue rather than a nonissue here.
