Thanks for the link.
I watched and the audio work fine for me.

So far looks like a great day for astronomy: Herschel and Planck safely launched, HST under repair...let's keep oour fingers crossed.

)
I've been reading up ..... Planck has rather more channels over a wider frequency range. It'll basically nail the CMB temperature map as far as one can. The really interesting stuff is looking at polarisation patterns, with the idea of deducing density fluctuations on the surface of last scattering ( ~ 300K Yrs after Big Bang ) modelled to be due to gravitational wave imprint. If they're lucky possibly also that of the re-ionisation phase from the lighting up of the first stars later on.
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Theres is an experiment going on in the Atacama desert in Chile looking for polarisation of CMB.

Another is being readied in Antartica.

Seems like all is ok.

Spain is to inaugurate a big optical telescope (10.4 meter mirror) atop La Palma in the Canary Islands. This is a great year for astronomy.
