Master file fetch failed

Could be about the time when they are doing some file system or database backup.
Not sure if the backup is still done that time of the day but you should retry in your evening or morning.
It means that your system
)
It means that your system could correctly resolve the hostname (einstein.phys.uwm.edu) but couldn't make actual contact with the server. It might be a broken internet connection or a wrong proxy configuration.

Hiya,
I didn't want to create a new thread just for this, so i'll borrow one. I've been getting a few 'master file fetch failed' errors on Einstein since this afternoon and was just wondering if possibly there's some minor server-side difficulties today. Anyone else experiencing this error at all?
Thanks :)

OK, thx for the replays. But what can I do if my internet connection is broken ? How can I send results back to the server?

You fix your internet connection (or get your ISP to fix your internet connection).

Are you serious about your answer? I thought that an open port 80 should be sufficient to contact the server via http. And if wiseguy could make an entry into this forum, his basic internet connection should be fine. IMHO at least. The only issue might be some closed ports, if the client is communicating through a different port. Then wiseguy should know which ports are involved to instruct his ISP accordingly.

He need not post to the forum from the machine, account or connection he is trying to run E@H on.
Anyway - there is no way to upload results if you can't contact the server.

This also happens when you choke out the internet connection for some reason (download managers, upload-hungry file sharing apps, etc).

Yes, I was serious. I had just finished hassling with my ISPs carrier over a broken internet (and phone) connection as the cable company cut the phone line in two while digging in their cable. My internet connection was temporarily broken, I did my best to make certain that it got repaired.

And the only time I've noticed my CableInternet connection down for more than a minute, there was an unmarked truck in the alley behind the Apartment buliding. When I investigated there were two people on a ladder playing in that big cable box back there.
I don't think they were from Comcast (unmarked truck, no uniform) so be aware of whatever activity occures around whatever connection you use.
