There is an article on of November 13 which says that GEO600 will be used to test a theory on time quantization in 2009. I did not post a link to it since it has a long tail of comments which are not much pertinent but it should be readable to all in the News section.

That sounds exciting! How is the beamsplitter in GEO600 different from those used in the LIGOs? How is the mystery noise different from shot noise? It wouldn't be noise from hidden variables, would it? :)
If everything else comes in discrete quanta ... is time quantized too? Or are volumes of space quantized and have a constraint on the maximum rate of change of potential with regards to evolving wavefunctions? Or what?

Wouldn't worry too much about "off-topic". With these very fundamental type questions nearly every assumption/model/theory known to man gets a shakedown anyway. If the predictions are demonstrable, the ripples in our thinking will go far and wide. :-)

Physics clearly needs some new ideas, it has been in a loop since the Sixties and Unitary Symmetry. Maybe gravitational wave research can break the loop.

This idea is exciting but not new to scientist. Loop quantum gravity is the theory of quantum gravity entangled with discritized space-time. You can read some introductory articles about this. I found it a quite interesting physical picture.
