You know the granting process?

You've read the FAQ?

You've read the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein?

You've looked for information regarding Credits here?

You have to remember that

You have to remember that some people are running machines that barely make the 7 day deadline. So if you happen to be waiting for one of these machines, don't hold your breath.

Even if people are running fast machines, many people let BOINC report the results automatically. This means the machine could be sitting on a completed WU for a week before the scheduler picks them up.

Worst case scenario, credit can take a few weeks if a machine has a client error and the scheduler has to wait until that WU hits it's deadline before re-sending to another host, which then may not report for another 7 days... :)

I shudder to think when they

I shudder to think when they close down Seti Classic for good and all a lot of those people transfer to the BOINC Projects. All we are going to see is "I want my Credit" Posts I feel because they will be under the Mentality that you finish a Work Unit you get 1 Credit.

Until it sinks into their noodles that your Credit is dependent on 2 or 3 other people, and if things go wrong with some of the WU's sent out that you have finished then it will take even longer and more people involved thats all we are going to see then.

When I first joined Einstein I had WU's finished for a week or more before the same WU's were even sent to anybody else, so I was on a 2-3 week waiting period for the credit to be granted to me. My Pending Credits built up to over 15,000 Pending Credits but I just kept crunching away and slowly that figure began to drop to under 2000 Pending Credits over a period of time.

You bring up a good point. Another wrinkle in the credit delay is that E@H uses "Locality Scheduling", because of the way they deliver WUs. They send large input data files initially, then for a while, (until you are sent another input data file) the WUs you are sent are basically just a set of parameters of various tests to run on this block of data.

This means that when you start working on a WU, the scheduler now needs to find hosts with the same input data file that you have, and sends that host the same parameters you are processing. It can take some time before the right host contacts the scheduler to be given the same WU.

So as in PoorBoys case, you can be sitting on completed WUs, but the WU might not actually get sent to another host for some time. Then you get to wait until those hosts process and report... :)

I see PoorBoy's response so

I see PoorBoy's response so often that it is getting tedious. I'd love to have as many hosts as he does...but then how many is that? Come on PoorBoy un-hide your hosts!

Live long and crunch!

So... I forget...

Is the purpose of this Einstein thingy to get and flaunt credits?

Someone told me it was about pulsars or something... Boy were they wrong!
