Hi all,
finally I have succeeded in installing Fedora 9 ppc on my PS3, and installed BOINC with yum ... but all I get from the projects in which I am participating is that they don't have a application for my platform "powerpc-pc-linux-gnu" :(
Can someone help me to get a platform "powerpc-pc-linux-gnu" application for this project ?
I know that such a application would only use the PPC core (with Altivec) of my CELL CPU, but better 1 of 7 cores than 0 of 7 !
If someone can tell me how to compile a platform "powerpc-pc-linux-gnu" for my PS3 myself, I could try this too, as in the long term I intend to optimize the sources for my PS3.

)
There was an experimental PPC linux E@H app version targeted for the PS3 (as you said, not using the SPUs). However, E@H is just now transitioning into a new run of the experiment requiring new apps, and AFAIK PPC Linux is not initially supported. However, PPC OSX (Macs) are supported, so I think that the effort should not be too huge to port this to Linux.
Currently the project staff is very busy but once the transition is done, you might want to contact the project's lead app developer, Bernd Machenschalk (e.g. you can send him a "private message" over this forum.

Many thanks, that was exactly what I am looking for :D
I found the link http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/power_apps.php there, and as BOINC is currently preparing for changing from 5.10.45 to a 6.* manager & client, I intend to contact Bernd Machenschalk as soon as possible, maybe I can help him testing a PS3 application with Fedora 9 on my PS3.
