I have 3 systems that have been trying to report their results since this aftrnoon. I looked at the server status page and it shows the scheduler is offline. Any idea if this is why I can't report my results? If so will it be coming back online before Friday's shut down?
I'm getting messages that the server is shut down for maintanence now. I thought this was supposed to be around 1700 on Friday.
Nix this message.. I no sooner sent it than I noticed all the computers dumping reports. And here I thought I had waited a long enough time.

Try reporting again. Most everything should be running again.
They had a power outage at one of the server sites:

Looked at the message and responded a few minutes ago. Its been hit and miss since the last ones went up a while ago.
Whoever said it isn't fun at the end of a run....
RE: They had a power outage

No, not quite :-)
"They" certainly didn't have any outage at one of the server sites!!
"I" had an outage at my farm site!! :-).
I did actually say (direct quote):-
and I certainly intended the references to "day" here and "night" there and the comment about "cold" and "winter" to give a clue that I was talking about a southern hemisphere location that was sort of diametrically opposed to locations in Europe or the US which are currently enjoying a new summer day or soon to do so respectively :-).
I guess people in Australia do get to think about the climatic and other differences between here and there whereas people in Europe or more particularly the US hardly seem to be aware of the "downunder" continent at all :-).
In any case I can categorically state that my little "farm" problems have no real connection with the current server issues :-).
Cheers,
Gary.
I have not been able to
)
I have not been able to report any completed work for the last 18 hours or so on any machine. Perhaps they'll be "accepted" at some later date.

Perhaps I spoke too soon, one just disappeared into the great unknown. As far as receiving any credit, I have no idea. Will check later. Off to try some other machines.

It does appear to be running but you might say it's kind of hit and miss. I've been able to report 3 or 4 in the past hr. or so, but others don't seem to want to move. Just a guess, but I suspect there are a lot of backed up reports being sent and things could have become a bit overloaded. I'm waiting until later.

The server stats shows they

The server stats shows they are all out of S5R3 work units, so I wonder if they are making the changeover to S5R4 a day early.
No, the statistics is about
)
No, the statistics is about workunits created, not workunits completed. Bernd wrote in another post that they had instructed the generator to generate all remaining Workunits in order to help ease the load on the server. The workunits (more accurately the results in BOINCspeak) where all fed into the database, waiting to be picked up by crunchers ("unsent results" on the stats page). The next run S5R4 will only start after the server hardware was upgraded, which will happen beginning Friday.

I keep getting server down
)
I keep getting server down for maintenance or http errors for quite some time on a few boxes...almost a day.....any idea if it will allow reporting before they go down to switch? Getting quite a backlog...
RE: I keep getting server
)
The "maintenance" message looks like a pure protection mechanism since it gives a 1 hour backoff. There is no guarantee that the work can be reported before server shutdown. This is not really an issue if you intend to be crunching next week as the new server will quite happily accept the reports then. If you are wanting to report final work before shutting down your machine and you wont be around next week, you can try the "update" button every few minutes or so. On the law of averages you will get lucky every so often and the stuff will go through. I've been able to do that quite a few times for machines that are going off permanently.
Cheers,
Gary.
