About 2 weeks ago I decommissioned a computer. Unfortunately I didn't stop one workunit from being sent to that computer. I'm feeling guilty because computer 1191269 is waiting for credit. Is there some way of transferring that workunit to my present computer or is it easier to just let it "time out"?

Unless you can merge it with a currently running computer, timeout is the only way.

How do you merge workunits with a currently running computer? I couldn't find a merge command in my BOINC Manager.

Unfortunately, that is not an option because one can not merge different computers or the same computer with different operating systems. You will have to let it time out... don't worry about it. It is only one work unit and I'm sure Donald A. Tevault will understand (he is a participant of the Cruncher's Corner forum and will most likely read this particular thread at some point.)
If in the future you do need to merge... you can do so by accessing your Einstein@home account, click on "Computers on this account View", click on one of the computer's ID number you want to merge, and select the "Merge this computer" link toward the bottom of the page.
(edit) on an aside, I wish one had the option to direct wu's assigned from one computer to an another if need be. I have one computer that the FPU died on the other day and may have a hard time (provided I even receive the replacement soon enough) crunching the units before deadline. If I could have directed them to my q6600, it would be no problem.
Thinking some more about it, aborting the wu's per the E@H website would be a neat thing also. Not even sure if that could even be made a viable option though.

Actually, I'm the wingman on a workunit that's still active. The wingman for the one in question is some guy named "Greeri".
At any rate, there's no need to feel guilty about letting an occasional workunit expire. It happens all the time, and most people don't have the courtesy to post an explanation or apology. ;)

I like to think of myself as an experienced home computer user starting with an Atari 400 in 1980. But I must say that I find the fine points of BOINC confusing. However, it appears that there is plenty of help here on the message boards if one is willing to take the time to post questions.
