Running the client I get:

Well, if You are running Your linux on x86 machine, then I don't know why it appears to be alpha to boinc.
Otherwise see http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/apps.php , do You see there linux/alpha ?
why do you think I am running
)
why do you think I am running this on a x86 machine? It is an Alpha...
Thank to the link to the different versions of EaH. I guess that means that there is no version for alpha CPUs. Sad. Are there plans to change that in the near future?

There seem to be two Alpha's running. Maybe using some emulator?
Host 1
Host 2
Sadly the owner wants to stay anonymous :-(
I'd be VERY interested into

I'd be VERY interested into getting that Binary of the BOINC Client for Alpha!
If the original Poster is still reading this, please (if possible) provide a Download link or send it to me via EMail (I could then upload it for others to Download).

I do believe though, that (so far) only SETI@Home allows non-standard Platforms to participate with own Compilations of the actual Core Clients using the anonymous Platform feature of BOINC.
That's how I got my SGI Workstations (IP22, IP26, IP30) to at least work one Project with BOINC :)
There's really a central place missing for all Non-Standard BOINC Binaries to download, the official BOINC Sites are each listing only a fraction of the available Binaries.

I have the same problem after I compiled it for an Opteron:

Why do they need to know the platform?
That's how they decide which
)
That's how they decide which Binary they send to your System.
Otherwise, a Project wouldn't know if your BOINC needs a Win32, Linux, Unix or Solaris File, and also not what CPU Architecture (x86, x86-64, MIPS, PA-RISC, Sparc, PowerPC etc.) it must run on.
Overall, it seems all BOINC Projects are extremely slow supporting all the existing (and powerful) Platforms out there. With SETI and the enabled Anonymous Platform feature and the availability of the Core Client Sourcecode, at least everyone able to Port and compile the Code can participate.
I have just the same trouble
)
I have just the same trouble on freebsd. The server sends the followong error:
"Message from server: platform 'i386-portbld-freebsd5.3' not found"
and defer communications for a day.
Does anyone know how to avoid it?
Sad, I have some dual Opteron
)
Sad, I have some dual Opteron servers where only 0-1% of the CPU time are normally used. So I can understand that it is not possible to paticipate in BOINC with them.

It is possible to participate in some BOINC based projects with them. As mentioned in a previous post seti allows you to compile your own clients for any platform. I personally expect more precompiled platforms to be available eventually once the code base settles down some. Right now it is a problem just keeping up with the few that are working since the code changes so fast.

That's me. And this is a very experimental version of a (native) BOINC client and einstein App.
FalconFly: Client for Linux or True64?
