Actually... the default is 16. It's been this way on just about every BOINC project I've joined in the past year.

This is interesting,since yesterday I installed fresh BOINC oń another computer and noticed,that it is set to 2.(After project contact-EAH :-) )

Its 2 from the web site page, but 16 if you use the preferences page in the manager with the global_prefs_override.xml file.
