Im having to complete some wu's that were overly assigned to my quad pentium pro on my p4 system, is having a differently named machine returning the work going to cause a problem?
Never mind why stuff went wrong, had to do with the resource share and the fact seti wasnt giving me any work for ages then finaly did while i slept.
Had been meaning to detatch seti from that box but had wu's to send back in first.
Completing work on a different machine.

Any WU send to a host HAS to be crunched and also be returned by the same host in order to get credit.

This works (did and doing this myself):
1: make a copy of your BOINC installation dir
2: Uninstall BOINC on the P4
3: remove all of BOINC that is left (exept the copy)
4: move complete BOINC dir from P-Pro machine to P4 machine
5: start your preferred CC (either CLI or GUI)
6: crunch away (maybe make sure no new WU's are downloaded). The Host-ID is contained in the BOINC dir. Host name is not important. Your WU's will complete and upload fine
7: If WU's are finished, uploaded and reported, remove the P-Pro BOINC dir, move your copy from 1 back in place, and start your CC.
If you skip 2 and 3, and start the P-Pro BOINC from another dir then you're in trouble.

Interesting procedure. Do you know what happens if the two boxes have significantly different performances? Does this affect the credit claim?
Also what does happen if new work is requested? What host ID does it get??
I could see this procedure being useful if you were suddenly about to lose a box which happened to have a lot of work on hand that could be saved and completed rather than left to rot.
