I've been running this program for a while, since my grandfather told me about it. I am interested purely in the science and doing what little i can from here to help the effort, but I am wondering- what is this whole 'credit' deal? I mean, what's it for? I am finding it quite difficult to answer what seems should be a most basic question using the site, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In the whole scope of the project Credit dosn't mean anything..
It does promote some competiton amoung users
It helps you see your progres.
If you computer is not crunching correctly it helps you see it.
There are Several other reasons but.....
The Credit and 1.50 will buy you a bad cup of coffee.

Thanks. Either way, it's all about the guys at the labs anyhow, ain't it? So all i gotta do is leave my computer on and let it 'crunch' a bunch of data that I don't even have to gather? And it helps? Sweet!

Yep, sure is. Your contribution is very much appreciated. If you enter the following link in your browser you will find out where you rank in the world and you can start to explore what the credits are all about.
http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/boinc-stats.php?id=44859&project=eah
The page is quite overpowering at first but just check out your rank in the world and your rank in the United States. You are currently ranked 16,382 of 22,595 in the E@H world and 6,714 of 8,804 for the United States.
There are currently 50,000 who have signed up for E@H and less than half that who have returned a completed result. You don't make it into the stats until you've done that. Be careful when you play around with the stats!! It can become quite addictive :).

Gary.

Did you look at your stats page or did you look at Williams' one. Here'a yours:-
http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/boinc-stats.php?id=20211&project=eah
The 20211 is your user ID under your avatar. Now, what's on the page...
Firstly, details of your personal and project stats for E@H. A summary of things, if you like. Because you have chosen to unhide your comp, the first purple box shows its rank against other boxes in what it produces for E@H. The next two boxes show (with a bit of context) your position in the E@H world and your position in your slashdot team. The bouncing arrows show whether you're advancing or declining and the numbers give you by how much per month, week, day. you're going up in the world at the moment, ie overtaking those above you. TC and RAC give your rankings in terms of Total Credit and Recent Average Credit respectively.
Enjoy!!

Gary.

To be honest, I first looked at his and then figured out how to look at mine.
Thanks for the explanation. But what I really want to know is how to click the mouse to make it shoot at those blinking up arrows.
