Finally, 64 bit versions of BOINC will automatically download clients for E@H (32 bit, not native 64 bit.... ....So no manual workaround is needed anymore!
Has this been implemented yet, or will it come in when the S5R3 run begins?
There is no longer any AMD specific problem that I know of (other than Intel producing the faster CPUs at the moment, I guess ;-) ).
It will be interesting to see how different CPUs will perform once SSE, vectorized versions of the client will be introduced later in S5R3.
I'm not sure about the AMD K7 chips. First generation K8 had not so hot SSE support, I think.

I'm not running 64 bit software here so that's not really a concern. Being penalized for running an AMD certainly was a consideration when I stopped running early in the summer. S5R2 was spelled out a a beta test so things would be ready for S5R3. I've seen so many beta versions and the threads seemed to indicate that the AMD problem had been taken care of. But with so much going on I wanted to know for sure one way or another before fully committing my systems again.
I guess that I'll have a better idea in about 2 weeks. Looking at the remaining time for the CPDN units on all 3 systems looks like about 2 weeks instead of a few days. Amazing what it looks like when you divide those hours by 24 to see days.

I could be wrong, because I have not been paying that much attention, but I believe the Linux app is still faster than the Windows app for AMD systems. I have only been watching the boards enough to know that 4.33 is still the fastest Windows build for AMD systems...and thus I didn't attempt any of the newer beta apps for Windows...
That said, I do have a VM of Ubuntu 7.04 installed for a class I'm taking, but I would guess the VM overhead would wipe out the advantage...

It's working already

Thanks for the info, I'll be able to lose that "app_info.xml" file at last! :-)

I guess the Linux app is faster for Intels aswell... at least it used to be on my box...
