Hi!
Over at SETI@Home the first Barcelona Opterons have been spotted. Any K10s here at E@H yet?
First independent impressions of the Chip are that the per-core performance isn't that spectacular (no surprise, given the max 2GHz clock rate), but they are scaling better than others. So a double CPU, 8 core box would be interesting to compare.

Any K10 Barcelona CPUs ?
)
Unfortunately, the two that have been spotted (a third errored out almost immediately) have only done about 40 WUs between them, which isn't really enough given the range of processing times at SETI - different WUs seem to exercise different capabilities of the CPU.
For what it's worth, I've been plotting the results against comparable figures for my dual Xeon E5320 (stock 1.86GHz, 4 x 1GB FB DIMM, Dell workstation chasis, Windows Vista Business), and the Barcelona figures seem comparable or slower where different. If they give me a few more data-points, I'll post a graph somewhere and link it here.
(BTW, the Barcelonas were found using BOINCStats, and at the time they were found they were only attached to SETI. But I'm sure someone will spot one here in due course).

This benchmark shows great scaling for Barcelona:

The Barcelona is well behind Xeon5345 (2.33GHz) in single socket but still manages to take the lead when in dual socket. The bad news is that the dual 3GHz Xeon5160 (total 4 cores) is just a few percent behind the 8 core Barcelona rig in the second bench where AA is enabled.

No doubt there'll be more discussion in the SETI thread where I've also posted them.
